Meet Haley King | Ice Cream Shop Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Haley King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Haley, how does your business help the community?
We are a homemade ice cream shop that originally opened in my hometown! I fully believe that this business would not have been as successful if it wasn’t for the community that I grew up in helping us get to this point. With that being said, our goal, as a business, is to give back to the community that built us! When your child needs to raise funds for their sport, or a fundraiser for a special cause, we want to be there to help and give back in any way we can because these are the people that support us and allow us to grow. We are very grateful and hope to do the same in any city we are in!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are different from other ice cream shops because we make our ice cream, in-house, along with cakes, ice cream cakes, cake pops, and more. We also focus on giving back to the community and creating a fun, welcoming, and enjoyable environment every time you visit! I am most proud of the feedback that we have received on our business in just a couple of years we have been open and having the ability to open another location and work towards more. It has not been easy getting to this point, and there has been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears getting to this point but luckily we have the BEST support system we could ask for! We have a terrific staff that has allowed us to be awarded Top Rated Ice Cream Shop in South Carolina and we have some great local businesses that continue to send their support! Our biggest piece of advice in entrepreneurship is to love what you do. If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would take them to the Marshwalk with some awesome views and food! I’d recommend going to the Hang Out and Broadway, and trying some local shops for food and merchandise: Kosta Bowls and Good Vibes Surf Shop. The beach would be a fun activity to do! Then we would finish the weekend playing putt-putt next door (at Gilligans Adventure) and follow that up with ice cream at Stella’s!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to thank our community that has helped build us, along with the SBDC in Myrtle Beach for helping us with business resources. We would also like to thank our partnering businesses and our amazing staff!! They definitely deserve recognition! I’d like to personally thank my friends and family for always being there and supporting me and my business!
