We had the good fortune of connecting with Fatima Golden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fatima, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting it wasn’t hard at all, it was the staying motivated throughout the process. After I got all of my gear to start I immediately started working taking photos any chance I got. But through the process when likes were low or I wasn’t getting hired for many events it was hard staying motivated and to keep going. But after a while of consistency it paid off and I’m seeing my dream become what I envisioned.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is photographs, I work hard to showcase the world in the way of photography. When I take a picture I want people to see what im seeing and being able to remember that day. I got here by always working hard it wasn’t easy because things would get hard. There could be people trying to make my life hard or just life being hard. But I had to stay focus and continue to work hard and have no distractions. I had to learn that people are going to try to put you down and you’re going to be told no but if you keep focus you will show them that they can’t hold you back. I want people to know that im not just doing this to make money it brings me pure happiness to see people excited about their photos and feel strong, or beautiful. I can just brighten someone day a little with my camera so that’s why I keep going!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I would take they to downtown Greenville there are so many sights to see so I would go to the falls then take them to get food. Greenville has so many small business especially downtown and I love supporting their craft show I would show my best friend a lot of the places I know.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout this journey I had a lot of supports from my mother, the athletes, the athletes parents, coaches, and more. They helped me stay motivated throughout this journey and I thank them for that!
