We had the good fortune of connecting with edie Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi edie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had no intention of starting a new business in my 60’s, especially the month that my husband retired! After observing how this amazing lifestyle adjustment affected me, I couldn’t keep it a secret. I wanted everyone, especially menopausal women, to realize that small shifts in their habits can have big results. It was a life changer for me, and I needed to learn how I could help other women and men change their trajectory to better energy and wellness so that they could enjoy their kids, grandkids, friends, and activities! Aging is inevitable, but how you do it is a choice!!!!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a nutrition and fitness coach who customizes both food and exercise to your specifications so that you can attain your wellness goals. Whether that be losing weight, gaining muscle, regaining energy, you name it, I help! This science-backed process allows me to examine what works best for your body. I take you through a 6-week class where you learn to zero in on whole food nutrition, efficient 30-minute workouts, carb cycling, intermittent fasting, stress reduction, and sleep. What sets me apart is accountability. I provide daily education as well as daily check-ins to keep you on track.
I have chosen to focus on women in menopause because they are who struggle the most. I know from experience that women at this stage of life have put themselves last in priority of self-care for to long. I love helping them rediscover who they are. Building self-confidence and energy by establishing new healthy habits is my favorite!!
I have learned through helping dozens of clients that each individual is capable of making small changes to achieve big results. It takes accountability and consistency, but big results are possible.
I want the world to know that age is just a number. You can and should feel great in your senior years. I also want everyone to know that if you don’t service your car, it ends up a junker and in the shop-if you don’t take care of your body, the same thing happens, it ends up a junker and in the hospital. Le’ts learn how to do preventative, smart things to keep us on the go and out of the doctors office!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Visiting Lake Keowee is the best.. Let’s start with a workout in my home. Quick and powerful. We have 30 minutes, in and out with a sweaty glow! Next, we can grab a cup of coffee and sit on the deck, or the dock and listen to the birds. I love springtime the best because of the geese flying through. Their honks! We can go for a boat ride or Jet ski for hours-there are so many coves and beautiful homes to explore. I could do this for days, rinse and repeat. Places I love to frequent would be Dimas Brothers for breakfast and or lunch. I love that they do breakfast all day! I don’t usually eat until about 11, so getting an omelet there is the best. I also love Presst, a terrific lunchtime spot that has huge portions.. I love dinner at home because my spouse is a fabulous cook. Eating at home, on the deck=heaven. If I’m going out though, I would go to Vangeli’s down on RamCat Alley. Amazing food, drinks, and service!!
Jazz on the Alley on Thursday nights is great fun. Free music and lots of people. I can’t leave out Pickleball, another freebie. My favorite spot is SouthCove Park. You have to pay for parking, but the courts are free and always full of smiling faces. Just watch, or show up and ask to join in.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My daughter, Leslie. She is my coach and who introduced me to the FASTerWay lifestyle in 2021. I was in her first group class and couldn’t get over how great I looked and felt in just 6 weeks. When I talked about how much I loved what I was doing, she encouraged me to become a coach as well so that I could share my journey and experience with others.
