We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Sonja Chisolm and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Sonja, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing about GraciousHands is that we offer free childcare for women when they are working. We also take children up until the age of 18
What should our readers know about your business?
Gracious Hand is a Transitional house for homeless women and children. We take in Mothers who don’t have nowhere to go and no support system. What sets Gracious Hands Housing apart from other organizations is that we offer free childcare and take children up to 18, regardless of gender. As a woman of faith, I believe in what god wants me to do, and as long as I follow his directions, everything around me and my organization will grow. One of the lessons that I learned along the way was patience. You have. to never give it. We show empathy to every woman who comes through our door. I want the world to know that my organization is built on faith and service. Gracious Hands is here to break the cycle of homelessness in families one step at a time. We teach women how to take back control of their lives, and Gracious Hands is here to love and bring them back to life,
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friends are my children and grandchildren. We love family outings like Steak 48 and North Italian. We also visit Noda and South End. Often. We mostly love intimate settings such as my house.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Gracious Hands would like to thank all the women and Children who have come through our doors. Witnessing the success of the women who have come through Gracious Hands doors helps us continue striving to help as many women and children as possible.
