We had the good fortune of connecting with Dianne Melillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dianne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When we saw the opportunity to buy a franchise with Season 2 Consign we were excited to start the process. We were able to have our own business but not be in business by ourselves.
Dianne had a career in the European luxury fashion business for many years. Gabrielle had a career in Ecommerce. We both thought it was an incredible opportunity to have an Ecommerce business selling authentic, pre-owned luxury items. Above all having a passion for style and fashion made it seem like the perfect fit.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We own a franchise of Season 2 Consign, we are located in central NJ. We are an Ecommerce business selling pre-owned, authentic luxury handbags and accessories.
What sets us apart is that we are personable with all our customers and consignors. They can reach out to us for any reason. We answer everyone’s questions and comments via DM’s. We keep our consignors updated on their items.
We got to where we are with the love and passion for luxury items and knowledge of our past careers and background, We knew we had something to offer everyone with selling luxury items for much less than retail and we are able to offer vintage, rare pieces than are hard to come by.
We would love the world to know, we are transparent and our items are all authentic! All of our items go through a rigorous authentication process. We are honest, trustworthy and transparent. We are overly committed and dedicated to our business and it’s been incredibly rewarding. Recently we won the International Franchise Association Franchisee of the Year Award. Our franchisors, Monica and Erika nominated us and we are so proud and honored to have received the award.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is so much to do in New Jersey and we have the best restaurants! If I had a friend visiting during the summer:
Day #1
Go to the beach at the Jersey Shore, dinner at La Mondina and than a night of drinks and dancing at the Parker House.
Day#2. Go to The Borgata in Atlantic City where we could spend the day in the spa, have dinner at one of the amazing restaurants, see a fun show then do some gambling.
Day#3
Take an hour train ride to New York City to see a play and have dinner.
Day#4 Grab breakfast at Baron’s Bagels in Point Pleasant. Of course it would be the “NJ Special” Taylor ham(if you’re from north NJ and Pork Roll (if you’re from south NJ, egg and cheese on a bagel or roll. Then take a stroll on Spring Lake’s boardwalk along the beach into Belmar. Then dinner at Charlie’s of Bayhead.
Day #5
Start the morning by picking up the most amazing crumb cake at Mueller’s Bakery in Bayhead and we would make sure to bring some to all our local friends. Then make a stop at Joe Leone’s for a delicious Italian sandwich and grab one of the homemade mozzarellas.
Day#6
Make a stop at Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck to grab a homemade pie, then go to Fox Hollow Vineyards for the day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a shoutout to my husband, Michael. He has been extremely supportive since I first started thinking of owning this franchise. He encouraged me to go for it and he knew it was something I would love to do. I am beyond grateful to him for everything he has done for me and our family.
I have to give another shoutout to my daughter Gabrielle for joining me in this journey and being my business partner. She is amazing in every way and she operates our business perfectly. She is dedicated, committed and goes above and beyond in everything she does in her life.
Monica and Erika the co-founders of Season 2 Consign deserve credit and recognition in this journey for allowing Gabrielle and I the honor and privilege of joining their business. There is such a FAMILY vibe to it all! They have been incredibly supportive and there for us in every way.
