We had the good fortune of connecting with David Seay and John Teffeau and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Guys, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Experience. We have completed every type of transaction possible in the residential and commercial real estate industry as well as business brokerage. And with a combined experience between John and myself of over 50 years, we navigate other people’s goals very well. We have worn many hats over the years from tenant to landlord to developer and investor so when people work with us, they are getting a multi-faceted perspective that allows us to see solutions from all sides and help clients weigh the pros and the cons. That also comes with our contacts so if they need a specialist from plumber to engineer to even a lender, we can provide many reputable resources.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
John used to be my client. He had a long history as a real estate investor and when he needed help with some important transitions to the Charleston market, I helped him professionally. Since we were good friends and worked well together, John became curious about getting his real estate license. We decided to jump in and start The Brokerage together after I had been working by myself for over 15 years. We have figured out our recipe now and are excited to add value to any conversation for clients and anyone who asks. We are excited to share what we know every day of the week and have found ourselves partnering up on deals as well, which has been exciting.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The list of great places in Charleston… it is just too long to summarize. No matter what part of town, there is a fun place for each type of person, but if you had to find John or myself on the weekend, we would be at the beaches or on the boat enjoying the wonderful coast of Charleston and we would be with our families capturing family time. In the summer, you can find us at our boy’s camp, Souldier Week for Boys, which we absolutely love as we enjoy mentoring and helping the next generation at home and in the community grow.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Both John and I have been extremely fortunate to have wonderful parents as our top mentors. Not only were we blessed enough to be supported as we grew up, but we were supported with good wisdom and business relationships with our families. We were both mentored by our parents before we ever met an outside mentor and that allowed us to grow and even fail forward, learning and getting better each year of life. We strive to do the exact same thing for our children now that we are grown and have our own families. Family always comes first for the Seay and Teffeau Families.
