We had the good fortune of connecting with Damara Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damara, what do you want people to remember about you?
As I reflect on my life and the impact I have had on others, the question of what I want my legacy to be is one that lingers in my mind. For me, a legacy is not just about leaving behind material possessions or achievements, but it is about the lasting impact I have on the world and the people around me. I want my legacy to be one of kindness, compassion, and empathy. I want to be remembered as someone who made a positive difference in the lives of those I encountered. In addition to these qualities, I also want my legacy to be one of inspiration. I have always been a firm believer in following your dreams and never giving up. I hope that by living my life with passion and determination, I can inspire others to do the same and chase after their own dreams. In the end, I may not be able to control my legacy completely, but I can strive to live a life that aligns with my values and leave behind a positive impact that will be remembered long after I am gone. I aspire to be someone who makes a difference in the world, no matter how small, and I hope that my legacy will be a reflection of that.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My journey to where I am today with my business has been a long and winding one, full of ups and downs, challenges, and triumphs. It all started with a dream, a passion, and a desire to create something meaningful and impactful. I had always been an entrepreneurial spirit, constantly coming up with new ideas and wanting to make a difference in the world. But it wasn’t until I took a leap of faith to pursue my own venture that my business truly began to take shape. In the beginning, I faced numerous obstacles and setbacks. I had limited resources and a lot of competition in my industry. I struggled to find my niche and establish a unique selling proposition that could set me apart from others. But I refused to give up. I poured all of my time, energy, and resources into my business, constantly learning and adapting along the way. I experimented with different strategies and approaches, both from a business and a personal growth standpoint.

One of the key factors that helped me get to where I am today was my strong belief in my vision and my unwavering determination to make it a reality. There were times when I felt discouraged and overwhelmed, but I always reminded myself of the bigger picture and stayed focused on my goals. I also surrounded myself with a supportive and knowledgeable network, seeking advice and guidance from mentors and fellow entrepreneurs.
In the end, my journey to where I am today with my business has been one of perseverance, resilience, and continuous growth. Through the challenges and successes, I have learned valuable lessons and gained invaluable experience that has helped me shape my business into what it is today. I am grateful for the journey and excited to see where it will take me in the future.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would make sure they had the best time ever. I would start off by taking them to one of my favorite brunch spots, where we could enjoy a delicious meal while catching up and planning out our week ahead. After brunch, I would take them to explore the city. For the weekend, I would plan a day trip to a nearby city and we would spend the day indulging in delicious food pairings, and enjoying the beautiful scenery. On the last day of their trip, I would take my friend to a popular brunch spot for some bottomless mimosas and a farewell brunch. We would spend the rest of the day shopping and exploring more of the city.
There is never a dull moment in this area, and I would make sure my friend experienced the best of it during their week-long trip.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The loss of a child is a tragedy that no parent should ever have to experience. It is a pain that is indescribable, and one that stays with you for the rest of your life. I know this pain all too well, as I lost my own children. At the time, I felt like my world had come crashing down and there was no way I could continue living. But as time went on, I realized that I couldn’t let my children passing be in vain. I couldn’t let my grief consume me and prevent me from living a fulfilling life. And so, I made a decision to use my children passing as my motivation to start Abundance Clothing.
I started by channeling my grief into something positive. Through this, I found a sense of purpose and fulfillment that I had never experienced before. I realized that my children passing had given me a unique perspective and empathy that I could use to help others.
But it wasn’t just about helping others. My children passing also motivated me to be the best version of myself. I knew that my children would have wanted me to continue living and pursuing my dreams, and I didn’t want to let them down. I became more determined and resilient, pushing myself to achieve things I never thought possible. My children passing taught me the fragility of life and the importance of making the most of every moment. I made a promise to myself to live a life that my children would be proud of. So I would like to decide this shout to Justice and August Wright
