We had the good fortune of connecting with Dadrekas Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dadrekas, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Along time ago, I always wanted to know the answer to that question. Growing up I felt like giving up was easy and that you could try something else. As I grew older, and started focusing on me and what I wanted in life. I knew that giving up wasn’t an option. I knew that I was different from everyone else so I had to work harder than them. I had to prove them wrong. They automatically assumed that I couldn’t do it. I had this burning desire; that pridefulness to be better, to do better at whatever I put my mind to. So it stuck, I started acting different and moving different. People want to see you fail when they realize you can do it but they couldn’t. So to answer the question, you keep going. You keep going, even though you feel like you’re not close to your accomplishment. You are closer to it than you were yesterday. Someone said success isn’t built/made in a night, but they are wrong. It is. Whether it takes you 10 years to get where you need to be, that one night it will all change. You may be blown off course every once in a while, but surround yourself with like minded people. They will hold you accountable to keep you chasing your goal. My advice always be the hardest working person in the room never be the smartest. If you’re the smartest person in the room, then you’re in the wrong room. To the aspiring actor, model, entrepreneur…keep going.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am that boy that loved making people laugh and smile growing up. Still to this day I am a man that has multiple platforms to do that. I like creating new things that brings joy to the soul. I have a long ways to go before I can say I’m a professional, but a journey worth while is never easy. The time on the journey will become worthwhile with the right friends and mentors. I learned that you need to take everything with a grain of salt and keep it moving. I learned that to take a step and breathe. The Great Wall was built brick by brick. So keep creating and focus on getting your content out. Nothing is ever perfect. I want the world to know that laugher is the best medicine. I was once in your shoes so keep pushing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Automatically he’s getting dogged on the basketball court day one. That’s the type of friendship that I have. After, I would say we can visit my favorite Japanese steakhouse Hachiya. Go to the beach. Go to different burger spots, Hispanic restaurants, soul food. Through out the week just wake up and choose something to eat and visit. I like to go with the flow so I don’t have an itinerary in mind. I will say I like to sight see and explore.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends who keep challenging me to create new content. My mom and my wife who believes in me. Nina Nesbitt from IDMT who saw something in me the first time we met.
