We had the good fortune of connecting with Cypress Ashley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cypress, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is to live an integrated life between my career and my personal life. Some days really do need to be that 9-5, but, not all days do. I want to create for myself the financial freedom to be able to take work when others need me, within where I am available, and to spend other parts of my day in creation, education, time with friends, rest, and fun. I am excited to have the opportunity to help others as a part of my daily life, but with flexibility. I’m equally excited to have the opportunity to create art, sugar scrubs, spell candles, spell jars, jams, and whatever else I’d like to make, and to sell those to the people for whom they will impact. My end goal, overall, is to put in the effort to one day find myself in a place where making the money one needs to survive is a part of my everyday existence, and not this “separate” thing that I do outside of my every day life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been growing my astrological knowledge the most, as of late. It is what I’m most excited about to add to my repertoire of metaphysical aid. I have been able to integrate it in unexpected ways in people’s tarot readings, as well as in my recommendations for various crystals to meet a variety of metaphysical needs. It’s a great framework to help narrow down what advice or tool will best serve a person. I think the growing integration of my astrological knowledge, along with my 20 years of experience in tarot, and paired with my years of psychological education, make me uniquely qualified to advise people metaphysically, and I’m very proud of that.

Getting where I am today has largely been an exercise in psychological growth. I’m extremely grateful for my therapist and the wonderful people at Julie Valentine Center that helped me get to where I’m at today. Believing in yourself is such a multi faceted process, and they have helped me so much through that process to get to where I am. I know for a fact that more people know the name The Witch of the Wheel because of the confidence they instilled in me.

The most powerful lesson I’ve learned along the way may sound rather strange to others who haven’t gone through the same ordeals. The lesson is this: I am very knowledgeable, compassionate, and kind, and the skills I have labored over have value and deserve to be recognized and fairly compensated.

You can have all the brilliant ideas in the world, but, if you don’t, at your core, truly believe that they deserve recognition and compensation, that you can truly impact people, then your ideas have no where to go. I work on this every day, and grow that belief in myself so that I can do the things I logically know I can do.

If there’s one thing I want the world to know about my brand, it’s that my entire goal and purpose is to help people live in ways that are in alignment with their values. I believe that tarot, astrology, crystals, etc. help, but, at the end of the day, it’s an internal process that people have to go through, and i know that the words I say are just as impactful as the services I offer.

If I wanted the world to know one thing about my story, it’s that, I didn’t always think so highly of what I offer, and, if it sounds like arrogance or condescension to you, I invite you to reach out to me, because I know what it’s like to think that someone’s confidence is arrogance, or that they must be talking down to you in order to believe in themselves. It’s a wound many of us carry, and, you don’t deserve to carry that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
While it depends on the friend of course, I would certainly bring them to the mall where I work my day job. The Greenville Gem Mine and Sacred Chakra are positively lovely places to visit, even if you are only window shopping, and I would, of course, want my friend to see where I work. Additionally, since the mall is so large, there are plenty of other wonderful stores to visit and food and drinks to get!

I also absolutely love a good walk in downtown Greenville. There’s a whole sense of culture there that is just deeply enjoyable to passively exist alongside. Some of my favorite places to visit downtown are The Spice and Tea Exchange, Oil and Vinegar, Coffee Underground, Greenville Art Museum, Falls Park, and the downtown cemetery which is rather large!

While it’s a bit more of a drive, there are also some truly love botanical gardens in the surrounding area!

In addition to that, I just really enjoy being cozy at home. My favorite things to do when friends visit are to cook for them and to share video games we both enjoy. If there are local events like a play or musical or the like I want to go see, I’m all for that, but, those are always dependent on time, of course. As an example, I love the Upstate Renn Fair and Artisphere! With this in mind, we’d probably schedule any such trip around such events!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m really grateful to the company and owners of the Greenville Gem Mine. I currently work at Sacred Chakra, one of their stores, and, without that opportunity, I wouldn’t have grown to where I am today. It is because of my job there that I am able to become more acquainted with various crystals, learn them more deeply, connect with others who have metaphysical needs and exercise the knowledge and wisdom I’ve spent so many years cultivating. Having the opportunity to work here, I have a much better grasp on telling crystals apart and knowing which crystals or crystal combinations work best towards various ends. It is the opportunity to be surrounded by such things, unpack them when they come in, go through them, sit with them, and resonate with them, that has built knowledge that would have taken a great deal longer to do so on my own.

I also want to thank all the patrons of Sacred Chakra. Without them and their questions, I would not have had so many incredibly opportunities to exercise my knowledge and put it to use. Because of this, my knowledge has grown so much in such a short time. It’s hard to even quantify. One cannot grow without new ideas coming into play, without new questions to ponder. So, thank you, patrons of Sacred Chakra, for the gift of allowing me to help you with your metaphysical needs and the gift of allowing me the opportunity to exercise my mind on all things metaphysical.
