We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Woodhall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, what do you attribute your success to?
Client relationships are the most important part of my small business. I have long term customers that have turned into friends. I’ve made sweets for every major event in their lives and feel like I’ve come to know them them and their families in a way. Those people go on to promote my brand to their friends, they shout out my business on social media, they leave rave reviews. I put a ton of work into building those relationships because it’s the pillar of my growth as a business owner.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im the most proud of the fact that I run this business while also being a full time mom. I started when my daughter was 6 months old and she’s now 3.5 with a 1.5 year old brother. I do a lot of my work during nap times or after they go to bed. It’s been difficult to find a work/life balance at times but I think we’re doing very well. My daughter recently decorated her own cake for the first time and it was a really profound moment for me. I hope this is something she grows to love and we can share in it together.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Folly beach is always the first stop when my friends and family are in town. I’ve spent countless hours at washout beach. I got engaged and married there at the tides hotel. Our favorite seafood in the area is Fleets Landing, the food is great and the view is awesome. We love to walk to city market downtown and then stop at kilwins for ice cream.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband is my rock. He’s seen this business through every stage it’s ever been. From encouraging me to learn to how make the cookies to being the person to drop me off in front of Kendra Scott to deliver an order, he’s been a part of it. He loads & unloads the truck for cookie classes, he sets up almost all of my tech, he has rearranged countless rooms in our home to accommodate my endless amounts of stuff. Without him in the background, this wouldn’t be possible.
