We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrie-anne Warner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carrie-Anne, what makes you happy? Why?
I am happiest when I am creating—whether it’s painting a scene, writing a story, or photographing a wedding. I have always found fulfillment in transforming my ideas and thoughts into something that can be admired or bring joy to others. As a teenager, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I never focused on a specific job title. Instead, I always told myself that as long as I was doing something creative and that I loved, I would be happy. Today, as a wedding photographer, I have turned that childhood dream into a reality.

There are many aspects of my career as a wedding photographer that bring me joy, but the most important is ensuring I am the best photographer for my clients. There is nothing more rewarding than the heartfelt responses I receive from couples after delivering their wedding galleries. I have found that by encouraging open communication about their vision for the day—and combining that with my knowledge as a photographer—I can capture their unique wedding story, filled with emotion and love.

I take great pride in my growth as a photographer. Looking back on my two years in the industry, I’m grateful for how far I’ve come. Consistent education and new inspiration allows me to shoot weddings in fresh and exciting ways. There are moments at each wedding when I know I’ve captured something truly special, and those moments energize me.

The happiness I attain from photography has been a key factor in my success. I love what I do—it’s as simple as that. When I’m excited and brimming with new ideas for a wedding, my couples receive the best version of me.

I am a wedding photographer based in Charleston, SC. My fly-on-the-wall, documentary-style approach allows me to capture natural, authentic moments and tell the story of your wedding day in a captivating, creative, and organic way. One of my core values as a photographer is putting my clients above all else. While your wedding photos are important and it is my job to ensure every image is intentional and beautiful, they are not the most important part of your wedding day. What matters most to me is allowing my couples to be present with their loved ones, ensuring they are a part of their wedding from beginning to end. I believe this is more valuable than keeping them for an extra 10 minutes to take a few more photos. My easy-going approach, combined with the trust my couples place in my work, allows me to curate a gallery that is driven by emotion and authenticity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a complete foodie, so we would begin our exploration of downtown Charleston by starting the day at Harken for some coffee and pastries. Afterwards, we’d stroll along King Street and explore the North of Broad neighborhood. Alternatively, we might take a carriage tour around downtown. For lunch, we’d stop by 167 Raw before continuing our exploration of Rainbow Row and the Market. We’d watch the sunset from a rooftop bar, either Ritual or Little Palm, before enjoying dinner at Málagon, Chez Nous, or XO Brasserie. To end the night, we’d treat ourselves to a cannoli cake at Carmella’s Dessert Bar.

The next day, we’d grab coffee at Dead Low Cafe and spend the day at Folly Beach, surfing, reading, and playing games. We’d stop by Chico Feo for lunch and try the Samurai Sling. In the evening, we’d head to Lost Isle for an early dinner before making our way to Bar George for a few fun and tasty drinks. We’d cap the night at the Charleston Pour House to enjoy some great live music.

The following day, we’d have breakfast at Basic Kitchen before heading to Middleton Place to stroll through the beautiful gardens. We’d finish the day with dinner at either Chubby Fish or Vern’s.

We’d end our trip with a Charleston Harbor Tour on a sailboat, and a wonderful Italian dinner at Indaco.
