We had the good fortune of connecting with Brad Ebenhoeh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brad, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We support small businesses by offering a scalable and flexible way to have a professional accounting team. Most of these small business owners support amazing missions and causes that give back to communities and uplift those in need. By contributing to their success, we contribute to the overall success of these communities.

What should our readers know about your business?
In 2012 my wife and I decided to move to Charleston and bring a fresh, new way of providing accounting services to small businesses. We had both braved the Big Four world of accounting where burnout and impossible hours was a badge of honor. Neither of us wanted that to be the long term lifestyle plan. With the technical knowledge and experience we developed from our corporate accounting careers, we created a modern accounting firm that is flexible, tech savvy and supports work life balance for ourselves and our team. We have learned a lot over the years and have adjusted our service offerings to better serve companies as economic conditions have changed. We honed our systems and processes to be even more efficient as time passed. Our success and growth speaks for itself. We have been on the Inc.5000 list every year since 2019. The way we have been able to streamline and improve Accountfully in conjunction with rapid growth has been a testament to our this success. Not to mention, two of those years were spent navigating a worldwide pandemic. Through the journey, we have stayed true to our core and it ha always paid off. We have never stopped being open-minded and people-first in our approach: “people are greater than numbers”. This modern approach has allowed us to develop and grow a solid team of professionals and a diverse and successful client book. From hurricanes to pandemics, we learned just how important our cloud-based operations were. Because we leverage cloud based tech, we have been able to stay up and running to support clients nationwide, in addition to hiring a growing remote team. It has been an amazing journey and we are thrilled to see the lasting effects of that risk we took on ourselves back in 2012.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Charleston is an easy city to love. Our first stop is Accountfully HQ, which in itself is a mainstay of Charleston’s growth in the turn of the 19th century. Our beloved office building on Rutledge and Fishburne spent most of its life as Park Pharmacy and was well known from 1915 to the mid seventies when it finally closed. We breathed new life into it in 2016 and remodeled it into our perfect office. Inside is the hustle and bustle of an eclectic group of Accountfully team members, all with differing hobbies, life experiences and professional backgrounds. The conversations we have are truly engaging and unique. From there, we typically go to one of Charleston’s picturesque dining spots for some sunset views while sipping on a cocktail. Bonus points if it’s a rooftop bar or out on the harbor. The historic sites all around town, in addition to the iconic beaches would also be on the list of “must-sees” for out of town visitors. When we host our team at HQ, we make sure to focus our activities around the downtown areas and on the water. Our most recent retreat kicked off at the Yacht Club, then on to the water for a sunset cruise, and ended at Hampton Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We dedicate this shoutout to those scrappy entrepreneurs and small business owners who have amazing, innovative ideas and products and the guts to pursue getting them from idea to reality. Business ownership is not easy and without their drive, we would not have these awesome products and ideas available to the world.
