We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbara Terry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Barbara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have a passion for helping people, and buying your first home or selling a home can be very nerve wrecking for many. I strive to be there for my clients every step of the way to ensure a seamless and stress-free transaction. I have always been driven and a self starter, yet in other positions this has not benefitted me. Being a REALTOR®️ allows me freedom and flexibility to be there for my family, friends, customers and clients alike.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Starting a new career is never easy however, I found myself diving right into real estate like I had done it my entire life. I thoroughly enjoy what I do and that allows me to feel as if I am never working. I faced many challenges along the way, and had a slower than expected start but I am so grateful for that. Operating on a slower pace in the beginning allowed me to set a solid foundation in place for years to come. I have learned along the way, that collaboration over competition is the best way to provide for your clients. I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina and the surrounding areas so I am very well versed in all that the beautiful Lowcountry has to offer.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to Evas on Main in Summerville for breakfast, then head over to Katie Mae’s consignmemt shop. We would have to hit up Montreux for lunch, they have amazing nachos! Folly beach is always on the list. There is so much to do and see I’m not sure we could do it all in a week. Definitely stroll downtown Charleston, have food at Fleet Landing and shop the market. Patriot’s point is really cool, there is a retired naval ship that you can tour, it is the U.S.S. Yorktown and something everyone should check out. Rent some paddle boards in Shem Creek and swim with the dolphins. Charleston has beautiful art galleries, lots of historical landmarks and buildings, as well as many museums.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Chris Blough, the SC Lady Lender helped me get my business off the ground. She provided me with excellent support and helped my clients every step of the way. Ellen Frazier is also a huge part of my success as we partner together quite often to get clients into homes.
Eric Sellers Jr. of Seller’s Pest Control is always there for my clients with their pest control needs.
Brennan Gilmore is a Marine Corps veteran spouse and we strive to provide our service members both active duty and retired alike, with the best care possible.
Bob Wiggins is a phenomenal CL100 inspector and has proven to be a great asset as well.
Weeks and Irvine is always there to assist with closings, title work and questions/issues that sometimes arise.
Terrence Hoffman has been amazing to work with whenever we have probate issues to resolve.
Holliday Ingram is another phenomenal closing attorney and I attribute many of my successful closings to them.
