We had the good fortune of connecting with B. Shytle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi B., do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Pinky Promise- the most scared vow anyone can swear to. If broken, you must suffer serious consequences.

The reason this holds such value to me is because it is used as a way to know someone is telling you the honest truth in my family. If my kids pinky promise me something, I know that what they are saying is true. If they refuse, then that means that they either don’t know or don’t want to tell me the truth.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a police dispatcher for my local police department by day and a writer by night. I get to enjoy my love for helping my community and explore my dreams of getting my story out to people. I couldn’t be happier than I am now.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would bring them to Charleston, SC. The beautiful landmarks that surround the area are intriguing to learn about. You get to enjoy so much history as you walk downtown. You can have a horse and buggy ride take you around all the great historic sites, and a guide will tell you about each landmark. The last time I went down there with my husband, we also went to the U.S.S. Yorktown and got to walk through the ship. It was a very cool experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shout-out to my husband, who always pushes me to do my best in everything I do. His support hasn’t fallen short with my new endeavor or becoming an author, and I feel his love for me through this process every day. I also want to give a shout out to Christina B. Rose (fellow author) whom I like to call my author bff. After meeting her a couple of months ago, we have been inseparable. We talk every day and push each other to write at least a little each day. If it wasn’t for her pushing me to keep writing, I don’t think I would be finished with books so fast. I also want to thank Grace for being with me from the very beginning. Reading and rereading everything I write to make sure it is suitable. Without her, my first book would have never been published. And last but not least, I want to thank my Mafia Babes community. Comprised of fans of my books and readers who love mafia romances, this group keeps me writing and pushing books out for them to read. I love everyone so much for all they have done for me.
