We had the good fortune of connecting with Azia Mikayle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Azia, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started off with my YouTube channel and then TikTok. I got a lot of emails from companies wanting me to review their wigs for them. They would send me free wigs and I would leave a good honest review. From then I constantly would get and still get to this day direct messages from plenty wig companies that would like to collaborate with me. I then migrated to TikTok and gained a ton of followers by helping other girls get free wigs and starting their wig influencer journey. I gained a lot of attention for a while. My views slowly died down on TikTok but that was a mistake I made and learned from it. Learning different algorithms can be tricky depending on the platform you are using. I made a YouTube video explaining how to become a successful wig influencer! You can find that @ Azia Mikayle on YouTube. I also have a full playlist on my TikTok as well. You can find that @ Azia Mikayle on TikTok. Free resources. I thought to myself and said I needed more. A lot of my supporters wanted to buy my used wigs so I created a website, Azia’s Wig Rehab, to sale my used wigs. I have not dropped the collection just yet but I plan to do that soon. I did make three total sales off of my Ebook so far! It is not a lot, but it is a start and I am very grateful for God bringing me this far! So I must keep going!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I simply genuinely love what I do. I love making content and love being creative. The thing that set me apart from others is that I am more realistic. I keep it real and blunt and show my real life because life is hard and if there is just one person out there that can relate to me some how I know there are more. I’m heavily proud of my growth. Looking back from my other two magazine stories that I was in, I came soooo far! I’m most excited about finally being monetized on YouTube.and hitting 1500 supporters! I got to where I am today professionally by God, Prayer works! Worshipping and spending time with God telling him all of your desires will get you really far in life. Sticking to your plan and focusing on getting better and better for yourself! It was not easy at all! I had my days where I felt unmotivated and wanted to delete everything and quit but always my good days outweighed the bad. I overcame my challenges by praying, putting in extra work and staying consistent as much as I can. Lessons that I have learned along the way is being patient with myself and not comparing myself and my growth to others. I have also learned that not all support is good support, meaning there are trolls out there but as long as you ignore, delete or block you won’t have to worry about them. I have also learned not to watch my analytics all the time because some days I go viral and some days I don’t, which can be discouraging when looking so I try my best not to beat myself up about it. I want the world to know that I am a realistic person when it comes to my YouTube channel. There are not really a lot of authentic content creator out there anymore and it is hard to find people to relate to. I still work a everyday job on top of doing the things I love to do is content. Life is hard especially financially for a lot of people out there, I just want people to be able to relate to me as much as they can so they know they are not the only ones going through a rough time. I also want the world to know about my business because I do not see a lot of people selling their used wigs for people that can’t afford to buy new wigs. On my YouTube we ball on a budget so I made a way so that my supporters can buy my wigs at an affordable price.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The most fun places to go to have fun would be Stars and Strikes. We can bowl, play arcade games, laser tag, and bumper cars. We can definitely go grab drinks and food at a local bar. I would not go to the clubs, stay away from them. People just know how to turn a fun night into a bad night. We could see the new scary movies that just came out as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to ALL of my true supporters from YouTube, TikTok, and some friends and family, Without them I would not be as far as I am now! Before them, I was stuck and confused and did not know what I wanted to do with my life. If it was not for my supporters cheering me on and motivating me I would not be writing this now. I am so grateful that God has blessed me with such a great support system on the internet. Especially now, it is harder for people to blow up. Yes my supporters base is fairly small, but hey you got to start somewhere. Little support is better than no support. I trust God that he will send even more people strictly for me and want to actually see my content and support me on my content creator journey. I don’t like the word “fans” or “subscribers” instead I use supporters because genuinely supporting someone is a choice. I am happy and grateful and very much thankful for everyone who has ever supported me by watching, liking and commenting on my videos, sharing my content, following or subscribing to my pages, or even just simply sending me a message. I love all of my supporters and they are going up with me! Saving the best for last, my man. Without him I would be lost for words. He is always sending me content ideas and helping me come up with ideas with my online business. His dedication in helping me inspires me to push and grind even harder. He also just now started making my back ground and intro music to my YouTube channel which I am very excited for in hopes that this will inspire him to continue to push making beats. He is very talented as well and I would love to see him put his talent to use. Hopefully my channel will grow tremendously so that he can be recognized for what he do as well. I am so thankful for all of my support I get.
