We had the good fortune of connecting with Alsu Grosse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alsu, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Because I have a background in modeling and working on music, video sets, and movies in Atlanta, GA., as well as my experience in visual arts, I traveled to USA when I was sixteen years old on a art program from Russia. My art work was sold and also displayed at the Atlanta airport. I knew from early on my passion, which is definitely on the artistic and creative side. I decided to go into the beauty industry. Therefore, I enrolled in The Paul Mitchell School, and I knew right away that I had made the right decision. My thoughts behind starting my own studio were to be creative and have the freedom to do it the way I see beauty. I studied hard, traveled the world, and watched different stylists’ high fashion, street style, which inspired me to create something of my own, something a woman can sustain on a daily basis and still be beautiful with minimal effort. That’s how my studio was born.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Alsu Grosse . I am a hairstylist based in Greenville sc. I am very proud of becoming creative hairstylist. It has always been my dream since I was a young child, cutting my best friends hair in kindergarten. Biggest lesson I learned was never to give up your dreams and always work on improving yourself and your craft. I love being creative and connecting with inspiring woman. My favorite part of being a hairstylist is to make my clients look and feel there best. I find something beautiful and unique in everyone. My brand is to empower woman and to show woman we have something powerful and amazing so we need to stick together and show love to one another.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love showing my girlfriends around Greenville. When they come for a visit, we enjoy places like Hotel Domestique, is a hidden gem that I discovered after living in Greenville for couple of years. It is located in the mountains, and the hotel has a European style interior and French cuisine, which makes it absolutely my favorite place. We could go have dinner with a view or brunch with a hike. One of my top favorite restaurants has to be an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant, Sushi Masa. For lunch, I would recommend the authentic Persian restaurant, Green Lettuce.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In reality all the credit should go to my clients and guests that have become like my family. They believed and supported me from the beginning, and without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. A huge recognition in my story deserves to go to my husband Ronald Grosse. He has been supportive of me from the beginning.
