We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Alderman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born on Ft. Hood Army Base in Killeen, Texas. Three months later, I was sent to live with my maternal grandmother in Moultrie, Georgia. I lived in Moultrie until the age of 9, when I began to move frequently, living with family members, with my grandmother as her health declined. This included a six month stay in New Orleans, where I attended public school and Atlanta during fourth grade. In 5th grade, I moved to Port Huron, Michigan where I lived with grandmother, aunt, and two cousins. During six grade, I moved to Clover, South Carolina after my grandmother passed and mother remarried. I resides in Clover until the second semester of my junior year in High School. I moved back to Atlanta and graduated from Stephenson High School.

Moving around a lot created diversification in my personality. I had friends from various ethnicities and races. It also helped with adjusting quickly to my surroundings. I often had to make new friends which ended up being instrumental in my development as an individual. After high school, I went into the military and attended college—the University of South Carolina for my undergrad and Webster University for my MBA. I am currently all but dissertation in a doctoral degree in business administration and a licensed realtor in the state of South Carolina.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After a successful career in the United States Air Force, retail management, nonprofit, and various other careers, I finally took a stab at real estate. My mother advised it after college but I didn’t listen so I thought to actually give it a try in 2021. My first year was typical. I believe I listed one home for one of my Masonic brothers that didn’t sell and I sold 10 acres of land for 45k and that was it. My second year, I was afforded the opportunity to work for a real estate investment company—they fixed and flipped homes. It was great exposure, I literally could not have asked for a better opportunity for my career in real estate. I was involved in the entire process, from property procurement, to construction, and ultimately listing and selling the properties.

I completely approximately a dozen transactions during my year with the company. The brokerage portion closed mid-2023 and I was forced to apply my knowledge and experience independently. In addition to helping individuals purchase and sell homes, I added the renovation process to my portfolio and offered this service to my clients. This method helps tremendously with business as I am essentially creating my own business through helping others find properties to flip for a profit. I assist with locating properties, the construction side as a project manager, and selling the property after renovations.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I no longer drink alcohol—been sober for over two years now so that type of fun is a thing of the past. However, I am able to function and still have a great time in a night club or other social settings. That said, I’m a big foodie. I’d possibly set up a reservation at Bourbons or Cola which are just a couple of restaurants mainly exclusive to a Columbia, South Carolina where I reside. After that, I’d find something custom to the individual and go from there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my Mother. She passed away in September of 2018 but she was my largest cheerleader while alive. She ensured that I “came from good stock” and that I could do anything I applied my mind to do. She was a proponent of education, often saying “get your papers(diplomas/degrees) baby…that’s the only thing no one can take away from you”. She was instrumental throughout my life, even though we had limited interaction during my adolescent years. She was a teenage mother when she had me and my family stepped in to fill the gaps during her pursuit in figuring out life. She definitely made up for it when we reconnected. She was my confidant—I could tell her absolutely everything without judgement. She always referenced a line she got from my grandmother, “I’ll stand by you if you’re right or wrong, just don’t lie to me”. I’m actually tearing up a bit while writing this so I’ll conclude here.
