Success is never owned. It is rented and rent is due everyday. The reason I like this quote so much is that it reminds me to never stop working. Even if I was successful yesterday, last week, last month, or last year, if I don’t put in the work I will lose that success very quickly. If I don’t put in the work to have a successful event, then it might look good if it is an event I am used to doing, but it won’t be the success that it should be if I don’t take the right steps to make it successful. Yes, I often say, “If you want something better than average you have to do things that aren’t normal.” People like to have nice things, but very often aren’t willing to do the things that are necessary to have them. As a designer, I’m often the first step of the process when people want to start actualizing their dreams. Compared to the cost of construction drawings are cheap, so what often happens is that clients start asking for things that they can’t afford, or they fall in love with the idea of having something special but aren’t willing to put in the extra effort that’s required to make it happen.
