We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessi White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Becoming a creator of art felt like a natural path for me. I’ve always been drawn to the ways art can express emotions and tell stories that resonate with others. I wanted to explore my own thoughts and experiences through creative outlets, finding joy in the process of making each creations. It became clear to me that art was a powerful way to connect with people, challenge ideas, and share my perspective, which fueled my commitment to this journey. Recently, I have found huge satisfaction in creating personalized artworks that capture things with individual meetings to it owner in fun colors and very small proportions.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One of the biggest struggles that I had as an artist, was finding my own artistic style and voice. The art community puts a lot of pressure in being unique and original. It took a long time for me to realize that the way that I painted was my style, and it is ever evolving, and my voice is painting whatever makes me happy. Currently my Passion for painting is evolved around peoples pets. On very small canvases I have learned how to capture the extremely cute personalities of everyone’s fur babies. I also have dove into the never-ending black hole of ceramics. I have come to love 3-D sculpting with many fun, lighthearted colors and farm like creations. It’s very easy to say I have will never have a set subject as my love for everything is to big.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Thankfully, I live in the amazing city of Greenville. I would give them a tour around town, visit a baseball game, and take the dogs to unity Park. Later, we would definitely go for a long walk down the swamp rabbit trail on and get a nice snack at the swamp rabbit Café. Then I would pack it up and we would hike into the mountains somewhere out in Asheville were hiking options are plenty and the views are never ending. Then we would come back home, being more of a homebody, and have a bonfire and a nice hot home-cooked meal.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Growing up, my love for arts and crafts was strongly encouraged by my mother and father. They truly helped me grow in an environment that was free to express any creative thoughts. As a kid, I attended C.A.T studio (Creating Artists for Tomorrow) which is sadly now closed. But I learned how to make a mess, important art history, and how to have fun with literally anything “art”. Going into college, I was granted a full ride scholarship to Gardner-Webb University for swimming which allowed an education in fine art that was extremely valuable to my creative process.
