Hi Tony, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business in real estate was fundamentally an extension of my early desire to help people, a drive that initially led me into law enforcement. Growing up in challenging circumstances in the City of Newark NJ, and later serving as a police officer there, I encountered the complexities of urban life that often made it difficult to effect the change I hoped to see. Despite my efforts, the demands and constraints of that environment meant that my desire to help was never fully satisfied.

My career in law enforcement was cut short in 2015 when I was forced to retire due to a disability from an accident involving a habitual drunk driver. This significant change led me and my family to relocate to South Carolina, where I saw a new opportunity in real estate. This field offered a platform where I could genuinely make a difference in a more direct and positive way. My background had equipped me with key skills such as negotiation, understanding people’s needs, and a strategic approach to problem-solving, all of which are invaluable in real estate.

On a daily basis, my business impacts me deeply; it provides a renewed sense of purpose and community involvement. Each interaction with clients isn’t just a transaction; it’s an opportunity to positively influence their lives by finding them the right home and community. This new career path not only fulfills my innate desire to assist and connect with others but also aligns with my personal experiences and values, making every day rewarding and meaningful.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a real estate agent with Carolina One Real Estate, my journey reflects resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to community. Transitioning from law enforcement in Newark, NJ to real estate in Charleston, SC, required immense flexibility and understanding of people’s needs. My background has equipped me with negotiation skills and a dedication to service, allowing me to connect deeply with clients. It’s not just about getting to the closing table—it’s about fostering lasting relationships and fulfilling clients’ dreams.

I’m particularly proud of guiding military families to their dream homes, given my role as a Military Relocation Professional. The support from my wife, Marly, and the inspiration from my sons have helped me overcome challenges, including PTSD and adapting after a disability.

Resilience, a supportive community, transparency, integrity, and hard work are crucial. My brand is more than real estate transactions; it’s about building relationships, communities, and making a meaningful difference one family at a time. Whether buying, selling, or relocating, I’m here to guide you through your real estate journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start our adventure with a hearty breakfast at Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, followed by a kayak journey down the Ashley River, tracing the path of Charleston’s first settlers. Cap the day with an authentic Southern barbecue dinner at Palmira BBQ.

The next morning, explore Charleston’s first notable Masonic Lodge and then enjoy a leisurely afternoon bike ride through the historic district. Dine at South Bound and relax with evening cigars at a local lounge.

On the third day, hit the links at Patriots Point Links in Mount Pleasant, overlooking beautiful waterscapes. Post-golf, unwind with a dip in the pool at the Rider Hotel and savor fresh oysters and wood-fired dishes at Nico for dinner.

Begin day four with artisan coffee and breakfast at The Daily. Spend the afternoon admiring the diverse birdlife at the Aviary in Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Finish with dinner at Peninsula Grill, indulging in their famously decadent Coconut Cake.

Day five brings a change of pace with a trendy breakfast at The Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan’s Island. Spend the afternoon relaxing or engaging in beach activities at Isle of Palms. For dinner, treat ourselves to some of the best seafood in the city at 167 Raw, known for its oysters and lobster rolls.

This itinerary offers a blend of historical exploration, relaxing outdoor activities, and exquisite dining, ensuring a memorable and enriching visit to Charleston.

I want to express deep gratitude to those who’ve shaped my journey. My mother, Albina, stands out for her incredible strength and dedication. As a single mother in Newark, she worked tirelessly to provide for us against all odds, teaching me invaluable lessons about service and community involvement. Her sacrifices opened doors for me beyond our immediate world.

My wife, Marly, has been my rock, supporting me through career changes, PTSD, disability, and my shift to real estate. Her support reminds me daily of our shared goals and the impact we can make together.

To my sons, Lucca, Matteo, and Massimo: watching you grow fuels my desire to succeed and set a positive example of integrity and commitment.

Newark, a city of hard knocks, shaped my resolve to make a difference, and my close-knit circle of Brother’s and friends who have stood by me through life’s highs and lows. Their support is as deep as any family bond.
