We had the good fortune of connecting with Gayle Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gayle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Prior business experience gave me a little edge. I was a State Farm Agent for over 20 years, in Maryland and California. In 2013 I opened an art gallery in Bloomington IL with three other artists. When I relocated to the Lowcountry I joined three member galleries and served as president of the Society of Bluffton Artists for three years.
Nancy Davis and I meet at GVL Art in Greenville where we both displayed our art. I respected Nancy’s art and her business acumen. When she approached me to open a gallery together I trusted our collaboration would be successful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Here is my artist bio, I think it answers the question.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Greenville is an exciting mid size city in Upstate South Carolina. I live on Main Street and my view from my third floor apart is Fluor Field and up Main St. It’s a spectacular view. Our guest would enjoy an performance at the Peace Center, wander the Swamp Rabbit Trail, maybe the Zoo, We’d enjoy wine and lite fare at Foxcroft Wine Co, Persian delights at Pomegranate, fabulous Italian at Bergamo and of course tapas at The Cazbah. For coffee and pastries we’d wander into Le Petit Croissant and Old Europe Coffee and Deserts. For Shopping I would include Samantha Grace Designs, Mast General Store. Art galleries would include Gallery One and GVL Art & Shop. And of course anything else that caught their eye.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
At my age of 80 it is difficult to list specifically the one or even two of the many inspirational people, circumstances, events that guided me through my careers and experiences. My spouse, Tony and I have lived in 6 states in our 60 year marriage. The variety of places brought us fascinating experiences, introduced us to people of many cultures and backgrounds. All of the places and the people gave me inspiration and encouragement.
