We had the good fortune of connecting with Korey Mcdavid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Korey, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Juiced Fuel came from a combination of my entrepreneurial drive and a real-world problem I saw firsthand. Over the years, I’ve always been the type to brainstorm different business ideas, but during the pandemic, this one really stuck. It all started with my wife, Caroline. She was constantly dealing with the hassle of taking our kids to the gas station, especially in the scorching summer heat. The kids would get restless, her schedule is so busy, and it felt like her car was always running low on gas at the worst possible times.

Watching her struggle with this routine made me realize that there had to be a better way—a more convenient solution for busy families like ours. It wasn’t just about avoiding the heat; it was about making life a little easier and freeing up time for more important things. That’s when it hit me: there was an untapped market in our area for on-demand fuel delivery. People are always looking for convenience, and with so many other services becoming mobile, why not fuel? That’s how Juiced Fuel was born—out of a desire to solve a problem that so many families face daily.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I graduated from Clemson in 2008 and was commissioned into the Army, where I had the honor of being selected to fly Apache helicopters. After completing flight school in 2011, I was immediately deployed to Iraq. Upon my return to Charleston in 2012, I continued flying with the South Carolina National Guard.

My career took a turn when I developed an interest in the Oil and Gas industry, leading me to pilot remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in the Gulf of Mexico. I worked with various oil companies, performing subsea construction and surveys. However, life on an oil rig wasn’t conducive to family life, so I transitioned to working with Kinder Morgan in Chicago, where I was responsible for storing and transporting petroleum and petrochemical products.

After a few years, I was offered the chance to return to Charleston and manage a terminal for Kinder Morgan. At the Charleston terminal, my team and I managed the import of bulk ships carrying refined petroleum products, which we stored and distributed to serve the local fuel market. During my time at Kinder Morgan, I pursued and earned an MBA from the University of Oklahoma, focusing on energy. This sparked my entrepreneurial spirit, and from there, Juiced Fuel was born.

It wasn’t an easy journey, but the challenges taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of seizing the right opportunities. You just have to take a chance and do it. What I’m most proud of is building Juiced Fuel from the ground up, providing a service that makes people’s lives easier. Our story is about solving a real problem in a way that’s simple yet innovative, and I’m excited to continue growing our brand and helping others in the process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The perfect Charleston itinerary starts with seeing the city from the water. Book a boat with Party Cat and enjoy a lively day on the water—party with locals and stop at a sandbar to soak up the sun. Afterward, take a stroll through Charleston’s historic streets, starting with Rainbow Row & White Point Gardens as you walk along the Battery. Get lost exploring the charming alleys and soaking in the city’s beauty.

For dinner, make sure to reserve a table at one of Charleston’s renowned restaurants like FIG, Husk, Halls Chop House, or 82 Queen. Each offers a distinct, unforgettable dining experience.

Spend a day at Folly Beach County Park, where you can relax on the sand, search for sharks’ teeth, and swim in the ocean. Folly is such a fun, relaxed beach town with fun quirks everywhere you look. Before leaving, treat yourself to a Pineapple Hut dole whip—it’s a fam favorite! For a unique perspective of the city, walk across the Ravenel Bridge and catch an incredible sunset over the harbor. Make sure you wear sneakers, because it’s a hike!

End your trip at Shem Creek at Saltwater Cowboys or Reds Icehouse, where you can grab drinks in a lively atmosphere and keep an eye out for dolphins playing in the water. It’s always a treat to see the wildlife that the Low Country shows off to its guests. There is no wrong way to spend your time in Charleston.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give an enormous shoutout to my wife, Caroline. She’s been the backbone of Juiced Fuel from day one, not just as my biggest supporter but as the unseen creative mastermind driving so much of what we do. Caroline handles everything behind the scenes—she’s the one making sure our Instagram stays polished and engaging, that our marketing strategies are always one step ahead, and that every concept I come up with is transformed into something visually compelling and impactful. She’s taken on the role of creative director without missing a beat.

But it doesn’t stop there. While I’m out working, she’s managing our home, taking care of the kids, and keeping the business running smoothly from the office side. Whether it’s making decisions about operations or simply handling the chaos of day-to-day life, Caroline’s ability to juggle it all is nothing short of amazing. Honestly, I don’t think Juiced Fuel would be where it is today without her constant dedication, creativity, and willingness to step up. She’s the reason we’ve been able to grow and succeed.
