We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna Light and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenna, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Savannah, GA but my home is Walterboro, SC. My family life growing up was chaotic, but I had strong independent women who raised me. That strong will pushed me to jump in to photography full time in 2020 and it hasn’t let me down a bit. That craziness I grew up with also made me the goofy, loving, people pleaser I am. And for that I am truly thankful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I show up to a session I’m immediately asking questions. Getting to know my couple, what they find funny and what they don’t. I try to create genuine laughter in my images. I’ve mastered a few corny jokes and prompts to make the couple relax and enjoy the session.
If you would’ve met me 8 years ago you wouldn’t believe I am where I am now professionally. I was shy, stayed to myself, was never in my comfort zone. After Covid-19, I took the biggest leap of faith in myself and my ability with a camera. I quit my normal job and made my photography business a full-time career. Was it easy? DEF NOT! The struggles were real. I had a whole family depending on me, that’s when I grabbed as much knowledge as I could, from the internet & other photographers. Here we are now 2024, my fall wedding schedule is FULL, my spring 2025 is FULL and fall of 2025 only a few days are left!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so many beautiful places in Charleston, SC to visit. Rainbow Row downtown is absolutely stunning. The colorful buildings, pebble stone roads, the Battery. Charleston is a very historic and beautiful area. I’m a southern girl, so soulful meals or BBQ wins the way to my heart. We would possibly drive to Walterboro and get Dukes BBQ, because there’s nothing else like it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The support from my family through this journey of life is amazing. I am so thankful for my kids, Kylie, Weston & Charlee. My sisters, Samantha & Kristin. My photography community. Without these people, my life wouldn’t look the same.
