We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Rose Raduazo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin Rose, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
This is such a great question! I was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area and grew up going to an Arts Magnet School where I was surrounded by all types of cultures and arts including dance, theater, visual arts and music. From an early age I knew that I loved all of it, but being fully immersed really helped develop how I view them all in my own way. Once I got to high school I was completely blown away by the art of photography and working in a darkroom. I loved being able to capture my surroundings from urban landscapes, to nature, to the people I spent time with on film. My camera was always something I could take with me, and photographs were always something I could look back on. I found that my artistic eye and my love of capturing people and the moment in time really blossomed with photography. From there I decided to major in photography in college. I think being surrounded by different cultures and different styles of art since childhood definitely made me appreciate it, but developing my skills as a photographer at a young age also made me really appreciate the entire world for its beauty and uniqueness. Even the ordinary can look extraordinary in a great photograph.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a family portrait photographer in Charleston, and I absolutely love what I do! My journey as a business owner and artist has been 20 years in the making, but being here now I can really be proud of what I create and how I serve my clients each and every day. Owning a business is never easy, especially as an artist. We tend to struggle a lot with self worth, comparing ourselves and our work to others, and feeling like we’re just not doing enough. I will say that working on my money mindset and business was a huge game changer for me personally. I learned to look at my business more objectively rather than subjectively and it was like a switch was flipped! Since then I have been on a mission to help others do the same!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We actually do this often, thankfully Charleston is an amazing place to visit with lots to see! We always hit up our favorite restaurants for a great dinner- Betty Lou’s Bistro, Swig and Swine, Bon Bahn Mi, and Rancho Lewis. We definitely would have more than one brewing hopping day because there are so many great ones in the area – Frothy Beard, Holy City, Edmunds Oast, Low Tide, Indigo Reef, and High Score to name a few. For cool hang outs and places not to miss – Pinky and Clydes arcade bar, Island Cabana Bar, The Whale and The Woodruff. Depending on the season a Stingrays Hockey game or a Riverdogs Baseball game are a great time. I think the beaches are best at sunrise and you can always find something great happening downtown!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have SO many people to thank along my journey, but more recently I read the books Fans First and Find Your Yellow Tux: How to Be Successful by Standing Out by Jesse Cole and it really spoke to me as an artist and a business owner. I think in a world where everything seems to be done over and over, it’s a fresh perspective on business, being yourself, believing in yourself, and combining your passions with serving your clients.
