We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Bajgert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was in corporate marketing for 15 years and enjoyed what I was doing. I loved the creative and problem solving aspects of marketing, there is always something new to learn. During the pandemic I was left feeling a tad bored and wondering what else I could do to expand my skillset. I decided to take a course to learn more about digital marketing, something I hadn’t been super involved in with my day job. The course I took also touched on how to start your own business and the wheels started turning. I had always wanted to do something where I could help people, and I loved marketing. I was so excited at the thought of combining the two! Helping business owners scale through personalized marketing strategies tailored to their unique business needs. And that is how Uniquely You Marketing was born! I love learning more about my clients needs, and helping them achieve their goals and grow their business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My years of corporate marketing have set me up for success today. I learned many different facets of marketing, how a business works, project management skills and good communication. I think all of those skills + my desire to help people makes me a great business owner and partner for my clients today. What ultimately led me to want to start my own business was my ambition of learning new things and being challenged. I love being able to set the pace for my business, constantly learn and try new things.

One thing that I have found challenging is putting myself out there, but I have learned that the more you do it the easier it becomes. And, failure is part of the process. You learn just the same, if not more from your failures. What really matters is learning from each experience and keeping at it. Progress is greater than perfection! That is so important as a business owner.

Having my own business has been so rewarding and fulfilling that I now want to help other women do the same! I want to teach women the skills and steps to starting their own businesses or passion projects, so that is my new venture I am embarking on, in addition to my boutique marketing agency. I want to educate and empower women to find their side hustle superpower!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When people come to visit I love to take them to all my favorite spots! My happy place is near the water, and Isle of Palms is my favorite. The Boathouse has delicious food and is a great spot to see the sunset. The Charleston City Market is always top on my list. I love all the history and vendors, and you are sure to find unique gifts and souvenirs there. My go-to spot is always Shem Creek. You can walk the board walk, even take a sunset boat cruise. I love eating on the water at Sunsets and watch dolphins swim by in the creek. Nothing beats it!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my family for always being supportive of me while I was growing my business, and supporting my decision to take my side business FT. I would not have been able to take the leap without their encouragement!

I have also met an amazing group of like-minded, entrepreneurial women that have encouraged and cheered me on along the way, that has been so helpful.
