We had the good fortune of connecting with Charity Dent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charity, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Ever since I was little, I always knew I wanted to be my own boss and work for myself someday. As I got older, I knew I wanted to start my own business but what exactly? I researched cosmetics, apparel, technology and so many other things. I didn’t know what my business was going to fully consist of until God gave me the name and literally showed me what it would consist of. Everything I’ve needed business wise, He’s been giving it to me. I’ve put a lot of thought into it but I’ve prayed over it too.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think what sets me apart from others is that I am innovative, passionate, and willing. I know everyday won’t be the best day but you have to keep going.

I am most proud of my confidence and growth in skill set. I believe I have grown some in all of the skills I have picked up. Even in customer service. I believe I’ve always had great customer service but being a business owner challenges you more in that area.

How’d I get here today? God. That’s the answer literally. I am nothing without Him and neither is HBS.

I’ve learned to always be confident, don’t be afraid to say no, and stand firm on whatever you say.

I want the world to know that one I am a dedicated individual. Not just to this dream but all of them. I believe possibilities are ENDLESS especially when walking with God. I also want them to know that High Brilliance Studios isn’t just a service provider. We cater to clients and assist them in finding their solutions so that they can Excel High in their Brilliance.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot in the city would have to be the River Walk. I love water and nature. The scenery is beautiful both during the day and at night. Even though many other people are there, it’s still very peaceful. It’s also nice because I’ve met some people there as well. Such a calming place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I’d like to thank God for trusting me with this vision enough to make me the visionary. Secondly, I’d like to thank my family and friends for their love and support. A special shout out to my church family back in Charleston and my AU family that supported me all year long. I’d lastly want to thank my cousin and mentor, Harry Dent for his unwavering support and guidance within this industry as well as spiritually as well. His love, support, and advice has helped me grow in and outside of the business world.
