We had the good fortune of connecting with Emmy Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emmy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of MountainCresties is in how I respond everyone who reaches out to me. I decided early on that I was going to give every question my all and yes, this has lead to me spending hours answering questions for people who had no intention of purchasing a gecko from me.

The thing is though, it is the reason that I do so well reaching 1st time gecko owners. 1st time gecko owners will often have lots of questions, but I’m happy to answer their questions and guide them through the process of getting their very 1st crested gecko. Because I do this (and of course the gecko arrives in perfect condition), I get a lot of repeat customers and I’m recommended often.

At least half of my customers either got their 1st gecko from me or it was their 1st time purchasing a gecko online. That is a really difficult customer base to reach when you don’t take the time to answer questions.

It is the best free advertising you can get and it helps people! What’s better than that?

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’d like to introduce you to MountainCresties, my small scale crested gecko breeding business! I strive to care for these incredible creatures as God cares for us, providing them with an abundance of all they need. I strive for my geckos to be as well tamed as they can get, content and comfortable with being held. I think that all are crested geckos are beautiful, but I still strive to breed the best of the best! I breed on a small scale so that I’m able to only select the highest quality breeders and give personalized care to every gecko here. I hope that these incredible creatures will bring you as much joy as they’ve brought me!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh that’s tough one! There are lots of fun things to do around Charleston. Edisto is my favorite beach to go to so I like to spend lots of time there. Downtown Charleston is also tons of fun. As far as food goes, Taste of India on Sam Rittenberg Blvd is amazing along with Kiros on N Main St. As for dessert, I personally really love Puma’s Italian Ice & Hot Dog Shack on E Richardson Ave and Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream and Sandwich Cafe on Old Trolley Rd.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could not have done this without the support of my family, friends, and partner! From encouragement to last minute gecko-sitting, they have all been a huge help.
