We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Orellana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, how does your business help the community?
I have a holistic aesthetic practice, so even though many of my services are rooted in 1-1 treatments that promote stillness, meditation, and relaxation I also provide community workshops and events that offer expression, connection, and movement as a means of wellness aging.
I believe that both entities are essential for full body healing and healthy aging. Both parts of my business promote integration of the parasympathetic nervous system and combate the affects of stress allowing the body to thrive.
I believe the more women can allow stillness, meditation, relaxation, movement, connection, expression, and laughter into their lives the healthier the community will be as a whole.
What should our readers know about your business?
My approach to aging is different than traditional or medical esthetics which solely focuses on the superficial outer layers of appearance.
Even though I still promote cell turnover as a form of anti-aging I target the other root cause of aging: stress.
I focus my healing energy to work from the inside out providing time and space for the body to feel safe to let go experiencing a full body, mind, and spirit rejuvenation. The energy work, sound healing, and other holistic modalities I provide break up stuck energy within the body’s meridian systems allowing flow and alignment.
Selah Sanctuary Spa is the name of my business. Selah is a Hebrew word that means “pause and breathe” while Sanctuary is a “place of safety and refuge”.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Kayaking on Shem Creek and a walk on Sullivans beach is a must when friends are in town.
I would take them to go check out one of the events hosted by Ivy Chiropractic, EstaticDanceChaleston, or a Sound Ceremony by Awaken Spanda.
I love hanging out poolside at The Wonderer and grabbing a bite at Huriyali Cafe.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to dedicate a shoutout to my son, Tavien. His unconditional love and support encourages me always when I need to step out of my comfort zone or I have an out of the box idea. By the look in his eyes I know he believes in me and is proud of the process I’ve accomplished as I work towards my dreams.
