We had the good fortune of connecting with Rick Hauschild and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rick, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to encourage people to ask others and themselves “How Are You?” more often. The key is to make sure you force an honest answer. We use this question as a greeting when really it is a mental health check in that most of us NEED.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve had a customer service forward job my entire working career. It’s been a fun and interesting ride going from 10 years of Massage Therapy to helping a patriotic apparel company grow, to moving to Greenville SC and working for High Spirits Hospitality for the past 3 years. The constant interaction with people has only taught me that everyone, literally everyone, can benefit from a friendly, honest and sincere conversation. Time is the great equalizer and making an effort to share some of that with others could change or even save lives.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Greenville is full of whatever you can imagine but I really enjoy the downtown area a lot. It is the perfect combo of nature and city fun. We’d definitely start by going to see my friend Dayna at Comal 864 for some of that goodness and then go on to see Unity Park and the new and fun stuff happening around there. In the evening a Drive or Swamp Rabbits game would be my go to plan for sure!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This all started with me finding an amazing therapist. I’m so grateful for the relationship we have made that keeps me continuously growing. One of the biggest things I felt I was lacking in life was a purpose. How do you put this goofy positive energy and creativity to work that encourages the same positive change I’ve experienced via therapy and active learning of myself? My wife, Krista McFarland, has been along the ride from the inception. Katie Babb and Katiemarie Owen were also my startup buddies that always encourage more HWRU Brand! My mentor Aaron George has supported and helped guide the ship. Nothing big happens alone.
