We had the good fortune of connecting with SHYLAND FLOWERS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SHYLAND, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking is an essential aspect of growth and progress. I approach risk with a balance of caution and courage, weighing potential outcomes before making decisions. In my life and career, taking calculated risks has often led to valuable opportunities and experiences, allowing me to learn, adapt, and achieve goals that I might not have otherwise reached.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel like my art is an ever changing reflection of myself. I’m never quite content with it because my tastes change a lot which can be very frustrating and sometimes makes being an artist feel like a burden of sorts. The gig is the gig however and we do our best to overcome the challenges. Overall I want the world to know that I’m a human having a human experience on earth and sometimes that experience is painful and sad but also it’s very beautiful that is what my art represents.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would to shout out the venues around the state that support Hip-Hop.
