We had the good fortune of connecting with Moesha-Mya Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Moesha-Mya, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Coming from Freeport, Grand Bahama, The Bahamas, my childhood in this picturesque island nation has played a significant role in shaping the individual I am today. Being raised in the Bahamas has instilled in me a profound appreciation for nature, culture, and community. The traditions deeply embedded in Bahamian culture have also influenced my core values of kindness and respect. This environment has ingrained in me a strong work ethic and determination, which have further molded my character and approach to life, for which I am truly grateful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am passionate about storytelling and connecting with audiences through various media platforms. What sets me apart is my dedication to excellence and my ability to juggle multiple roles effectively. I take pride in my achievements, particularly in maintaining a 4.0 GPA as an international student studying broadcast journalism. My journey to where I am today professionally has been a challenging yet rewarding one. It has taken hard work, determination, and perseverance to overcome obstacles along the way. I have learned valuable lessons about time management, prioritization, and the importance of networking and building relationships.

I want the world to know that I am a driven and ambitious individual who is always eager to learn and grow. My brand is built on integrity, creativity, and a strong work ethic. I strive to make a positive impact in everything I do and inspire others to pursue their passions. As a media student at Benedict College, I have honed my skills in conducting interviews, social media management, marketing, videography, photography and graphic design. My involvement as a campus ambassador for PrettyLittleThing and as Miss International Student Association has allowed me to further develop my leadership and communication abilities. Overall, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and am committed to making a difference in the media industry.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were planning a fun day out with my best friend in South Carolina, I would create an exciting mix of activities to enjoy together. Our day would start with a delightful brunch at Smoked SC, savoring their renowned chicken and waffles. Following that, we would head to the axe throwing venue on Gervais Street for an exhilarating competition. Our journey would then lead us to the State Museum in Columbia, where we could immerse ourselves in the state’s rich history and culture. Afterwards, we would catch a movie at a nearby theater and conclude the day with a friendly game of bowling at a nearby alley. This action-packed schedule promises a day filled with laughter, cherished memories, and quality bonding time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Certainly! I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of BC Media, the student organization where I hold the roles of President, Lead Journalist, and Social Media Manager. College can present various challenges, and I am grateful for the opportunities that BC Media has provided me to exhibit my leadership skills and creativity to a wider audience. Through this organization, I have conducted impactful interviews, established connections with renowned record labels such as DEF Jam, Atlantic Records, and Route Runner Entertainment, improved my skills in graphic design, print publications, photography, video editing, and event hosting.

I am truly thankful to BC Media for allowing me to showcase my talents to the world. Special recognition goes to our advisor, Joey Hilton, and my friends Boris Williams and Lorenzo Burnside for their continuous encouragement and support. Furthermore, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my friends—Shapelle, Destiny, Israel, Kartier, Janae, and Taylor—and my family for their invaluable spiritual and emotional support throughout my college journey.

Finally, I want to convey my deep appreciation to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for sustaining me throughout this season. I attribute all my achievements to Him and acknowledge that without Him, I could not have accomplished anything.
