We had the good fortune of connecting with Elyse Stokes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
E Stokes Creations stands out by infusing each piece with a unique touch that reflects the couple’s love story, whether it’s through the custom wedding invitations that I create or in the live wedding paintings, I work so hard to bring each couple’s unique love story to the forefront of my art in an intentional way.
I’m so proud of the emotional connections my art creates. It’s been one of the joys of my career to receive feedback from my clients that they had so many people reach out to tell them that their wedding invitations are the most beautiful they’ve ever seen. I love to engage with all of their guests too on their wedding day and see a work of art come to life in real time. My journey wasn’t easy, but overcoming challenges has made me stronger. Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of authenticity, building genuine connections, and continuous learning in my artistic style and how to run a business. My brand is ultimately all about storytelling, personalization, and creating unforgettable moments for my clients’ special days!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to town, I’d have to say that we had to visit Husk, the Antiques and Artisans Village, and the Gibbes Museum. These are essential places for me because they so perfectly capture the essence of Charleston’s charm, history, and culture! The Southern cuisine of Husk is such an incredible experience and has some of the best flavors in the city. It’s the perfect Lowcountry dining experience and I love the locally-sourced ingredients. I can never get enough of a good antique spot, and I can genuinely get completely lost in the Antiques and Artisans Village. I love to see what treasures I can find and am always looking for pieces to add to my studio or home that have a history. And lastly, the Gibbes Museum is a cultural staple that showcases the beauty and diversity of Southern art. As an art enthusiast, I’m drawn to the museum’s extensive and impressive collection, which spans centuries and offers insights into Charleston’s artistic heritage. It’s another place that I could just get lost in, and would be more than content to spend hours and hours enjoying!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always have to point back to love and support of my husband, and now also so much inspiration and joy also comes from my son.
I dedicate my shout out to these boys because without my husbands support over the years, I don’t think I could have established myself and kept pushing even when things felt so hard. And to my son, for inspiring me to be my best self and to see the world through a new, beautiful lens!
