We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharael Lueders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharael, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Working for a corporate company right after I graduated, work life balance was much easier to maintain. I would clock in Monday through Friday, 9-5 and after that I didn’t really have to think about work in my free time. After starting the business, I quickly learned that I had to draw my own hard lines otherwise I’d be consumed by this business and my well being and relationships would suffer. I now have specific places in my home where I work and when I am in my bedroom, I refuse to bring my laptop in there because it’s a place of relaxation and rest. I train my brain to associate certain rooms with certain practices. Since doing this, my work life balance has improved significantly! Learning to create boundaries for myself and the business has been so beneficial and has allowed me to keep from getting burnt out. I love what I do and want to keep loving what I do, and in order to do that rules need to be set in place.

What should our readers know about your business?
I come from a long line of entrepreneurs. My grandparents owned a mom and pop shop on the island of Guam, my mom has owned her own hair salon since I was a kid, and my sister has her own lash business. I’ve always known I wanted to own my own business, but I never knew what I was really passionate about. The summer of 2023, I was moved to an all commission pay structure at my corporate job. I had been applying for remote positions, with no luck. I had connected with someone who was needing some administrative work done and that’s where the journey began. I started to think about how I could continue to scale this service so, with the help of my husband, I started my LLC in October of ‘23 and fully launched a month later in November. Since I had built rapport with other business owners from my corporate job, the growth came a lot faster than expected. I’ve learned that although I’m an online based service, people want that genuine physical connection. I’ve gotten pretty good at networking and even if some people don’t use my services, I still love connecting others to people whose services they might use.
Personally, I think Greenville is one of the best places to start a business. If you put yourself out there, the community of business owners here is so supportive! As a new business owner, I’m always asking tons of questions, especially to those who have had their business for years, it’s like having a community of mentors!
I am religious and an huge believer and although I don’t advertise it, I don’t try to hide it either. I think that’s what sets me apart from others in the same industry. I want my business to be a reflection of who I am and a big part of that is my faith. I love doing business with other people and if my faith is something that draws you to work with me, then that’s even better!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love that Greenville is a place that’s meant for people to enjoy the outdoors and the beautiful weather we always have. I’d have to take her on a hot girl walk on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, with coffee in hand from the Village Grind of course. Passerelle Bistro is definitely a go to for some lunch and a glass of wine, especially when it’s beautiful out. Anywhere with a rooftop honestly because who doesn’t want to enjoy the sunshine. A friend of mine opened up a restaurant called Curean, located downtown, where they serve the best Mediterranean food! I’d take her to Gather and have her experience more yummy food as well as an outdoor show. We’d walk along the reedy river and over the bridge and show her all the cute things about downtown Greenville!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give the biggest shoutout to the Greenville Networking Group (GNG)! Without them I wouldn’t have any of my clientele. Joining that group before I started my business has been the biggest blessing. The people in that group, past and current members, have supported me in that journey of going from corporate worker to current business owner. GNG has pushed me to come out of my shell and put myself out there to make connections with other business owners. Some of my closest friends have come from that group and I couldn’t be more thankful!
