We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Bebe Peay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
I would say the one thing about the hair industry that outsiders are unaware of is the amount of money we put into buying professional and safe hair products.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I knew ever since I was in elementary school that I wanted to do hair. My hair career started in 2007 and I’ve always done it as a side job while working different full time jobs. Recently I’ve decided to dive in and do hair full time (wish me luck).

What sets me apart from others is that I am truly passionate about what I do. I strive to make my customers happy and I take constructive criticism. I have a clean and private work environment where it’s mostly just me and my customers so they can talk to me about anything without others hearing. Most importantly I am professional.

I got to where I’m at today by being consistent. Lessons I’ve learned along the way is practice makes perfect and always be willing to be a student because trends and hair techniques are always changing.

In 2009 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and it was news that hit me pretty hard but I don’t let it stop me I keep going because I love what I do. I want people to know whatever you’re passionate about do it now and never give up.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area I’m in (Florence, SC). I would take them to Victors, it’s a nice classy restaurant. There’s not too much excitement here unless there’s a concert of special event. Most people travel to Myrtle Beach, North Carolina and Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my Husband, my best friend William Golston and to my clients. They all have my back in different ways with my business.
