We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had been working for several different major car dealerships as lead detailer. However, I grew Tired of working for people who were constantly overcharging and taking advantage of people, especially the elderly. I wanted to make a difference and still give people top quality details. I knew the level of my skills are beyond good and I take pride in my work, it’s a passion for me. So, after long talks with my wife and knowing she had my back I decided to go out on my own…be the boss I always wanted and treat people with kindness and honesty.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First I would say what sets me apart from others is I am who I am. I have a drive for complete satisfaction from my customers. It’s not about the money for me, it’s about seeing the satisfaction in each of my customers faces. Yes, I want to be successful financially… I also trust in knowing that each time I detail a vehicle, the owner of that vehicle gets inside and feel good knowing their money was very well spent. Satisfaction will bring more clients because word of mouth is still the best promoter. I love what I do, my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. It’s been a learning process and I have taken several classes and became certified as a professional detailer over eight years ago. Worked for several major dealerships and gained so much knowledge which helped me grow my skills. I never liked how the dealerships treated their customers with the overpricing and not appreciating the work from the detail crew. It’s hard work cleaning a vehicle and let’s be honest, the cleaness of a vehicle can make or break a sale just as much as a good or bad engine. Imagine looking at a 2020 BMW that’s covered in dirt and pet hair on the inside, stains all in the seats, outside covered in mud. You not about to pay full price for that, right? That’s where detailers like myself come in. We give vehicles that shine that catches the eyes of customers and then when they look inside and see nothing but cleanness they hooked. That’s why I love what I do but I felt I was not getting the respect that I nor my craft deserved working under someone else. I prayed about it and prayed about it until one day me and another coworker had words and I knew it was time to leave. That was not who I am but due to me staying at a place I intensely didn’t want to be I was becoming resentful. My wife and I made a plan…we would give it one year, put our all into it, learn as we go, and if we see a profit after that first year we will make it official. And that’s exactly what happened. Jehovah has given us so much but it has not been a walk in the park. There was much we had to learn about starting a business before we could actually start a business. My wife dug into the paperwork, you know the legal and financial side of it, because she loves that kinda stuff and I went hard with the marketing and building the foundation of the business…what we stand for, how we will grow, the different processing of the details we offer. With trial and error we learned together and the word spread along the way. We want to build a brand that not just provide job opportunities but also provide help with growing the community in a positive way. If I can do so can you. We’re very grateful and thankful to be we where we are today!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, being in Greenville SC a growing beautiful city and home to Furman university and Bob Jones University as well as the Greenville Growl,we would definitely have to Go see a game or two.I would also hang out in our downtown night life. It’s full vibrant with plenty of different restaurants and sports bars such as the Blu night club or jack and Diane’s dueling piano. We’re not slacking on the game rooms for relaxing and laughing at vantec vr or Dave and Busters. Unity Park a great place for a serene walk or just enjoy conversation with the great people of Greenville or even falls park on the reedy river, yes that’s right, there’s a waterfall right in the middle of the city!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and far most, I thank Jehovah God for blessing me with all I have good in my life and giving me this opportunity to be a business owner. I thank my wife for sticking by my side through the rough times and holding down the home front while helping me grow the business. Gotta give a huge shout-out to our customers because without them there wouldn’t be a business. We appreciate their support and love they show us. We not just building a business, we making connections that hopefully will last a lifetime.
