We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, how do you think about risk?
Taking a risk is the only way to fully jump into entrepreneurship. I spent years one foot in and one foot out with running my own business hoping it would magically take off to where I would be able to quit my job. Eventually the career I had spent 10+ years building as an engineer came to a snag and I took a major risk with the support of my family, I walked away to film full time. I believe it’s easy to be complacent with a guaranteed paycheck working 9-5, but once your business is the only means of income, then you become fully invested.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I consider myself a better artist than a businessman. Usually, that’s not a very good compliment or trait to consider, but I genuinely love film making. Starting as a photographer, my love for light and composition are expressed freely throughout my films and commercials. I think being a “Creative” first, really helps separate my brand, MUVIfilms, from others. I want the world to know that MUVIfilms cares about the final product, we care about making sure we deliver something that the client and I are both proud of.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For a nice trip the lovely quiet town of Summerville, we could start the day off with breakfast at Toast. During the day we could check out Fort Dorchester state park or Magnolia Gardens. After a long day in the sun, we would stop in for a five-star meal at Myles and Jun Yakitori for some of the best Japanese food in the state. For entertainment, Summerville is home to two amazing theaters! Old Trolley theater is always hosting some of the best comedy acts from around the country, and you can catch local plays at Flowertown Theater! Across from the Flowertown theater there is the Summerville square which houses some great local bars such as The Icehouse and Montreux’s! In the morning after a long night of drinks and fun, I suggest Cuppa Manna for a nice warm coffee to get you back on your feet.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my family and friend for supporting me through the growth of MUVIfilms. I have worked with so many great directors, actors and crew members over the years. I feel like I have learned so much from each and every one of them! My Mom, Dad and Brother, have been there since day one to support my business and I can’t thank them enough! I owe everyone I have ever had the pleasure to work with from my role as a PA to Producer for helping me grow as a Cinematographer and Director.
