We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawn Maynard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawn, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
It is commonly know, chiropractic is helpful for neck and back pain, however what most people don’t know is chiropractic care helps improve and maintain all body functions. When chiropractors make adjustments to your spine, the result isn’t just an endorphin release, it is removing pressure off the spinal nerves which carry all messages from the brain to the body and also feedback from the body to the brain. Chiropractic adjustments improve the vitality of the nerve system which improves all functions of the body’s systems.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a chiropractor. Our purpose as a lifetime family chiropractic office is to improve the wellness and function of entire families by improving the health of every individual and family, by improvig the health of their nerve system one adjustment at a time. We practice and live by life principles that recognize we all have within us a wisdom that created us and maintains us in existence. Our focus is to empower people to recognize the life potential within them, always.

I began my practice 13 years ago very simply and with a very low overhead. I was nervous. No one in my family had owned a business or been self-driven. But, I have always had chiropractic mentors from whom I could seek advise and use as a template for my own business. Above all, each decision I make personally or in business is done with a mindfulness and feeling. I believe that a meditation practice, involving sitting in silence allows for innate ideas to “bubble to the surface” and inspire to action. This is how I have overcome any road blocks along the way and found my compass and ability to act with authority in my office and life.

Walking into my office, a person feels loved, hope and learns to expect miracles. When you recieve a chiropractic adjustment, it may reduce your symptoms, but it certainly and always, effects you on a cellular level. Healing and life from the inside out are the expectation here and that is empowering to everyone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our friends come in twice a year, just to have a meal at Hall’s Chophouse Downtown. We always know we are going to have a beautiful experience and feel loved and appreciated. The following day, we are going to take you on a boat ride. We live on Johns Island, so we start at Limehouse landing and go along the Stono River, enjoy the ride to Kiawah, across from Folly. The best way to see Charleston is from the water, in my opinion, so we take Wappoo Cut to the harbor, up the Ashley to the Citadel where my husband went to school and we got married.
From there we have to go to Shem Creek for a view and a snack at Reds or Tavern and Table.

The following day, we play golf. Our favorites are either Stono Ferry or Charleston National.

We have to do a bit of a BBQ tour as well, so off to Lewis’ downtown and the walk around the corner to Home Team for a Game Changer.

If we do a brewery tour, we love to stay on Johns Island for Low Tide and Estuary. If we stay on the island then that has to mean Wild Olive for dinner.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The chiropractors and supporting persons at Dynamic Essentials.
