We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Gaede and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, how does your business help the community?
Over 20 million people in the United States are currently suffering from addiction. Although you would be hard pressed to find someone who does not know anyone struggling with the disease, there remains a stigma around it. As a result, families are often facing this crisis without knowing where to turn. A notable characteristic of addiction is denial, where those afflicted often struggle to acknowledge the necessity of seeking professional assistance. Interventions serve as a chance to enlighten everyone involved about the realities of addiction as a disease and provide resources to embark on a path towards recovery and freedom from addictive behaviors. The primary goal of an intervention is to reveal to the individual in question the reality of how their actions and behaviors related to the addiction are adversely affecting their loved ones and jeopardizing their own health and well-being. Recovery from substance use disorder, alcoholism, and eating disorders offer a chance for people to get their lives back. When families heal, communities get stronger. We not only see people mend their relationships, they also re-enter the workforce, and they become the useful members of society they were always meant to be before addiction hijacked their lives. These same people have a renewed sense of purpose to help others who might also be struggling.
What should our readers know about your business?
AGI has become a trusted local resource for addiction intervention, treatment placement, and long-term case management in Charleston, SC. I attribute my professional success to my personal journey of overcoming addiction.
Having faced the challenges of addiction myself, I offer my clients a firsthand understanding of the struggles associated with achieving sobriety and long-term recovery. I am driven by the desire to provide the kind of assistance that my own family needed when we were unsure where to turn. Recognizing addiction as a family disease that affects everyone involved, I encourage all parties to embrace their unique journey of recovery.
My specialization is in assisting clients and their families dealing with Substance Use Disorder, Alcohol Use Disorder, and various Eating Disorders. Drawing from both personal and professional experiences, I advocate for a holistic approach that addresses the mind, body, and spirit of the individual. This approach goes beyond treating symptoms and delves into the root causes of addictive behavior, contributing to the highest rate of success for those seeking long-term recovery.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The lowcountry is endlessly beautiful. I would encourage them to be outside as much as possible. In my free time, you can find me on the beach or the saltwater marsh with my dog. One of my favorite spots to eat is NICO on Shem Creek.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank all of the women who came before me, both in recovery and in business. There are countless women who came before me and showed me how to walk this path–without them, I would not be here. I also have to thank my family for their endless love and support.
