We had the good fortune of connecting with Kameron Laue and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kameron, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Over the last 2 years I have witnessed 2 very close friends of mine start successful businesses. It was very tough listening to their everyday joy and the battles they would face while I was stuck in a job, I had lost my passion for. My job was an Administrative Lieutenant for a Maximum-Security Prison. Believe it or not, that job does get boring after 8 years. I have always had a passion for the outdoors and helping others. My close family and friends encouraged me to take the leap, one of them, Mario, allowed me to expand into his brand. I have an unquenchable thirst for success. Even my Captains from the prison has agreed, this path I am taking is destined to succeed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Since starting The Standard Landscape Solutions, it has not been easy. We have lost out on many jobs and opportunities, because we are new. Those who know me personally have trusted us to take on their projects, that has been great for getting us off to such a start. I am excited for 2024 our business will now be full time and we have great plans for our commercial clients. Our residential clients will also see packages for their homes to streamline their care on a customized level. I am excited about this; it means customers will get what they need at the same price all year long. No more surprise big bills. Growth is tough on any business luckily, I have learned the hard way my whole life, so it doesn’t hurt so much anymore. Best advice for the young ones starting out? Pull the trigger, even if its the wrong choice, you are still learning.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Clock of Greer, a lot of them claim to be the original but it’s been in Greer, SC since 1966. Cameroons in downtown Greer is exceptional for Cigars and Drinks.
Wild Ace Pizza (ask for a Fat Boy Bomb.)
The Bleu Porch Kitchen is great if you love breakfast/brunch.
Casa Carrion for Mexican, fantastic.
Just go for a drive anywhere near highway 11 we have some of the greatest hiking and fishing around.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To give credit where it’s due, probably my Father Keith Laue. I spent more time outdoors with him than anyone as a child, I can grow and build anything because of him. My father and I built a sandbox together, I was just a little over 5 years old, it would later become my first garden. My new Wife Kinlie, she hears my frustrations and pushes me to reach my goals. She’s a realtor full time, I encouraged her to quit her job and now she has been supporting me in the same manner.
My close friends Mario and Cesar own The Standard Property Services and Murcia Electrical. I talk to those guys daily; we have a group chat dedicated to it. Austin Decker and Kevin Borem also encouraged me, they have both worked in law enforcement. Austin works for a family-owned small business, Decker Home Improvement. My Aunt Cecilia and Uncle Doug are there for me as personal advice givers and business knowledge advocates aswell.

Lastly two supervisors of mine Captains Megan Toth & Thomas Lasley. They have supported me through this journey since I told them my plans.
