We had the good fortune of connecting with Nelson Richards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nelson, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We’re successful because we understand our “why”. Our brand and company culture express the “golf cart life” internally and externally. Cartstowne is about fun and our objective is to spread joy. Simply put, our “why” is to transform golf cart ownership into an effortless and enjoyable experience.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Hello! My name is Nelson Richards and I’ve lived in Charleston, SC since 2006. I’m thrilled to introduce Cartstowne, a golf cart housecall service I founded in the Summer of 2023. Cartstowne is predicated on disrupting the traditional service center model by revolutionizing convenience and accessibility in golf cart maintenance, repair and modification, becoming the premier provider of on-demand housecall services for golf carts. Our vision is to create a seamless and hassle-free experience for golf cart owners, ensuring their vehicles are always in peak condition and ready for a smooth ride. Through our commitment to exceptional customer service, technological innovation, and a passionate team of experts, we aim to enhance the enjoyment and reliability of golf cart ownership, setting new standards of convenience in the industry.

Our unique business model, early-mover advantage in the mobile servicing sector for golf carts and well articulated “why” are all contributing to a solid first year of operation. However, none of this matters much if we’re unable to create a social impact. For such a new company, we have worked hard to give back to the communities we serve. We’re working with Trident Community College to build pathways to employment for recent automotive tech graduates. We’re active with local sports organizations and high schools to provide free coffee for parents on game days – especially those cold morning matches! However, as a veteran-owned business, what we’re most passionate about is working to provide opportunities for veterans returning to Charleston once their service is up. As we expand in 2024, our goal is to bring on 2-3 retired military personnel.
