We had the good fortune of connecting with Two Fly Guys Media and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Two Fly Guys Media, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Man, I don’t even want to lie to you. I’ll be very honest – I remember sitting in marketing classes at GA Southern University as a Junior graduating soon thinking to myself “boy oh boy, I do not want to go to work for anyone in the corporate world anytime soon”. Since I already had a passion for videography – I continued to explore the possibility of creating videos for a full time living. Around the same time is when I met my business partner, Adam Tsang. Adam had a lot of encouragement early on in my filmmaking days and we were able to build out a business model that we thought would work. As anyone who has ever started a business knows, it doesn’t always go exactly to plan. When we first started Two Fly Guys Media, we designed the company to be a video marketing company that focused on higher energy social media video for small business. But, as we grew and developed – I (Ross) discovered my passion for wedding videography. Although we still do higher energy social ads every now and then, it definitely isn’t still the bread and butter of the business. If I could say anything for this question, I’d say that although the original goal of “not wanting to work a real job” got Two Fly to where it is today, the driving factor behind the past 7 years of success has always landed in client satisfaction. When you do something well and people love it, it’s just hard to stop. And for that I am forever thankful we’ve been able to create content and capture memories for so many clients along the way.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
TwoFly as a brand originally stared with just myself (Ross) and Adam. And, has since taken off to have more work than we could personally take on. That’s why scaling the business over the last 7 years to include new talent has been everything. We were able to get where we are today by treating people right, thanking God for every opportunity, and continuing to pour into our team and divide and conquer. It definitely wasn’t easy watching someone else go out to cover work while I (Ross) headed in another direction to cover another event. Or, it definitely wasn’t easy taking months of time teaching my editing style to other editors so we could keep the same style together. However, it all paid off eventually and now we’re growing faster than ever. Trusting others with your business is never easy at first, especially when you’ve worked so hard to create a brand over the years. However, trusting your team to not only do a good job but also exceed in ways you couldn’t have is everything when it comes to business growth in the creative field. I’ve learned so much from Bryson and Jared (our current TwoFly editors/videographers) in the last 2 years it’s been so healthy for the business growth and creative development.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is pretty simple. Along the way of developing and getting Two Fly Guys Media to the business it is today there were really two (ok, three) people in my life that really got the ball rolling.

First up, my business partner, Adam Tsang. See, when we first met – I wasn’t exactly super confident in being able to successfully start and run a business right out of the gate. I had this idea that things take a while and I was (and still probably am) a very instant gratification type of person. Adam was the exact opposite, and was the sole driver in encouraging me to pursue my passions for videography and go after it. I knew I would be graduating from college soon and needed to quickly start to make a full time income, and Adam was right there along the way encouraging and guiding on how to set up a business for success. If it wasn’t for Adam, I’m not quite sure where I’d be today as far as work goes – & I guess we’ll never know.

Up next, my wife – Jessica. Now, it seems cliche to mention your wife when talking about credit and recognition in your story. But, here we are. And, we’re here for a reason. Remember earlier how I said I was a Jr in college just not wanting to get a “real job” – well, Jessica came into my life around that same time just when Two Fly was barely getting started. She not only believed in me and believed in the vision that it would take off, she encouraged me to keep going every step of the way. I specifically remember being at a graduation party in early 2018 getting excited that an email inquiry came through and the business was going to make enough money to keep me employed for the next 3 months. Seems kinda crazy now to only be excited about a 3 month salary? But, there Jessica was believing and cheering me along. From our dating relationship to marriage to now being parents of a little one – she’s been encouraging me every step of the way.

And lastly, I couldn’t write this without thanking all of the past clients that have ever utilized TwoFly’s services. Y’all are the real MVP. I’ve had so many friends, and clients turn into friends along the way that consistently share my name around town and consistently share our work with others. Word of mouth really is the best advertising and thankfully we’ve worked with some amazing clients along the way. So, to any past clients reading this right now – thank you so much for entrusting Two Fly with your wedding day, or with promoting your business, over the years.
