We had the good fortune of connecting with Precious Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Precious, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business gave me the freedom that I needed to be there for my children. As a child I remember growing up with a single mom working all she could to make ends meet. I was very active in sports, band, and JROTC but my mom barely had time to attend my events. I found myself doing the same thing while my children were younger. I started to access my life and realize that I wanted more for my children than I received growing up. So being able to be a major part of my children’s events motivates me daily to continue to operate my own salon.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think what sets my business apart is my attentiveness. My clients feel safe and comfortable when they sit with me for their nail care appointments. I listen to them and provide them with the advice and confidence needed to face the world. I am most excited about the direction my business is moving forward in the future. My future is bright. Prayer is the most important part of my business and what keeps my business going. As long as God is at the center of everything I know that everything will be okay.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was visiting the area, I would have them stay at the new hotel Springhill Suites. We would eat at Woo and Keem’s where they are famous for their collard green egg rolls. We would have dessert at the peach cobbler factory where the sweet potato pecan cobbler is the absolute best. We would also have a few drinks at Dizzy’s bar.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to all of my supporters. They are the reason why Polished by Precious continues to operate successfully.
