We had the good fortune of connecting with Neaisha Seawright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Neaisha, how do you think about risk?
At first risks scared me, I’ve always been a rule follower. I typically like to play it safe. However, when it came to starting my career in the beauty industry that scared mindset didn’t work. I figured out early on that in order to get where/ what i want in life i have To be willing to bet on myself. The biggest risk i took was quitting my full time job to do hair full time. I had no plan at all, i hadn’t even saved any money yet but I took the chance anyway. I’m so thankful that it worked in my favor!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I consider myself a healthy hair connoisseur. I believe what sets me apart is my ability to connect with others . I do my best to create a safe space for my clients to come and unwind. It took a lot of hard work, patience, and prayer to get where i am now. Absolutely not, it was not easy navigating school, life changes, and being a mom. I stayed determined and eventually found a balance. A very important lesson i have learned is that it’s ok to ask for help. So often we want to do it all on our own and that’s just not realistic. I’ve learned so many things just by asking for help. I want the world to know that I’m here. I’m here to take up space while creating a safe space for my clients!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So i am a true homebody, we would more that likely do some things at the house. Lol However I’m always down for a little trip to Halls chophouse, the sweet and sour collard greens are sooooo good!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Certainly my friends and family. Specifically my aunt Shae, she really held me down through the beginning of my journey. She allowed me to practice on her anytime & she was always letting people know her niece did hair. She was my #1 supporter. I unfortunately lost her back in 2019, i often think about how it would be if she was still here. She’d probably be in my chair every week getting a new style. Ha!
