We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tasha, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
In the past few months, my work-life balance has undergone a significant transformation due to the tragic losses of my son, sister, and father-in-law. I decided to take a break to grieve and address the aftermath of their passing. This time away from my business has allowed me to reevaluate and gain a newfound appreciation for life and the opportunities my business has provided.
Previously, I was constantly caught up in a whirlwind of events and commitments. However, this hiatus has granted me the space to place things in their proper perspective. I’ve come to realize that I chose this line of work not solely for financial gain, though money is undoubtedly important in this day and age. Rather, my true motivation is the reward of using my talents to help and heal people.
My Clients and customers have been so gracious and supportive during this time. As I enter back into my business in phases, I’m excited to be of service again!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a chef, I view my culinary creations as a form of art. My journey as a certified raw vegan chef has encouraged me to think innovatively when crafting dishes, particularly in a region where traditional Southern cuisine holds strong influence. Recently, there has been a growing demand for plant-based foods in the South, allowing my niche to thrive.
I’ve been particularly enthusiastic about taking my business on the road along the Southeast Coast, spanning from North Carolina to Florida, and gaining recognition from other plant-based entrepreneurs in my field.
Through my professional travels, I’ve honed my ability to connect with fellow entrepreneurs and business owners, acquiring valuable insights and inspiration for my own professional growth. While the road hasn’t always been easy, this recent hiatus has provided me with time for reflection and adjustment, ultimately guiding me in the right direction.
Throughout the years, I’ve embraced healthy competition with myself and consistently raised the bar to meet the goals I set. My most formidable hurdle has been contending with depression and a lack of motivation following the recent loss of my loved ones. The affection and encouragement from my customers and clients are reigniting my passion and driving me to return to what I love to do.
I want the world to understand that, just like myself, my brand is continuously evolving. Yet, the ultimate objective of my brand is to empower individuals to cultivate health and wellness in their lives whether it’s through delicious vegan cuisine or with herbal tonics.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first thing I would have my friend experience is a Gullah Geechee Adventures Tour and the new International African American Museum. I believe anywhere you visit it’s imperative to learn about the history and culture of the area to really appreciate the visit. I’m a “homebody” by nature so I may have to check social media to see what’s new in Charleston, also I can be a bit impulsive so the itinerary may change at any time. I have the best times hanging with family and friends, I hear the stories of “yester-year” from the elders that have been passed down for generations.
Monday: Gullah Geechee Adventures Tour
Tuesday: International African American Museum/ Charleston City Market
Wednesday: Day of relaxation with full body massage, sauna with Gabby Does Massage
Thursday: Tour The Oyotunji African Village
Friday: Glamping at Twilly Chateau
Saturday: Beach Day at one of Charleston’s gorgeous beaches (Depending on weather & time of year)
Sunday: Hang out with family and friends
Throughout her visit, we would support local food trucks and eateries such as Vibrant Alkaline Vegan Meals, Neon Tiger, Dellzville, and many more.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give recognition to Afrika Croket my insurance broker. Afrika and her team have assisted me over the past several months, they’ve helped shape my family’s financial future.
I also would like to give recognition to T.J. Cheeks, she is an entrepreneur here locally. She has been a tremendous aid to me both personally and professionally these past few months.
