We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandiann Garfold and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandiann, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Ever since I can remember I have always been drawn to the arts. From entering and winning coloring contests as a child to receiving the honor of being selected as a recipient of an art scholarship, I knew I would pursue a career that involved being artistic. I chose a creative path because I am passionate about it and it really doesn’t even feel like work!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an online digital creator I am always pushed creatively through the different campaigns I’ve been assigned. I love the flexibility and freedom to be creative in a multitude of ways. Whether it’s taking photos or videos, every workday is different, which keeps my work fresh and exciting.
I started my blog, MommaReview.com, back in 2017, after becoming a stay-at-home mom as a way to stay connected to the world and other moms. I never imagined it would grow to become a way to support my family, which has been a tremendous blessing. What started as blogging for fun turned into a full-time digital creator journey. I would say the journey has been smooth for the most part. Of course when you’re just starting there are a lot of product-only collaborations and it took a few years of growing to land some paid gigs and eventually major brands.
My brand, MommaReview, is an honest review website. I also enjoy sharing tips about motherhood, as well as mom hacks and kids’ crafts.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Myrtle Beach offers a diverse range of attractions and activities, making it a great destination for a wide variety of interests, from beachgoers to golfers, families, and nature enthusiasts.
If my best friend was visiting for the week, the first place we would go is the beach! Whether it’s swimming, sunbathing, or taking a leisurely walk along the shore, the beach is a must-visit in Myrtle Beach.
After a long day at the beach we would dine at Collector’s Café & Gallery. Collectors is known for its unique combination of art gallery and fine dining and I love the artistic ambiance. I’ve had the pleasure of having had a few of my own artistic pieces displayed and purchased from there.
We’d end the evening at The Market Common where you can find some great spots for a night out, with wine bars, craft beer pubs, and occasional live music events.
For breakfast we would hit up Croissants Bistro & Bakery. This bistro is a local favorite and they are known for their delectable pastries and breakfast sandwiches. Brookgreen Gardens is also a must-see! This sculpture garden and wildlife preserve features beautiful gardens, sculptures, and a Lowcountry zoo. It’s an excellent place to enjoy nature and art. After a day at Brookgreen Gardens we would end the evening at Murrells Inlets enjoying some nightlife.
The Grand Strand hosts a variety of live shows, including musical performances, dinner theaters, and comedy acts. One of my favorites is the Carolina Opry.
Myrtle Beach hosts various events and festivals throughout the year so there is always something fun to do and see!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mom and husband! My mother has been one of my biggest cheerleaders, with her advice and someone I can count on through life’s ups and downs. My husband is my rock and has been so supportive of various businesses I have started, including my main one, MommaReview.
