We had the good fortune of connecting with Vincent Dalessio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vincent, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Moving Companies are the most common type of small business in this country. We should all be conscious of how vital this industry is to our overall economy and be strategic not to over regulate and over tax an industry that comprises of the most small business owners from every race and background, and employs millions of low income workers across the country. A lot of Dads who are short on bills or Veterans who are between jobs, that’s who always made up our team. I know many other companies can relate it’s not just Makin Moves, that’s just the reality of the economy. We must protect the moving industry to protect the most vulnerable in our society. The best way to protect it is to leave it alone and don’t over regulate and over tax how people move their belongings.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After seeing a need in the community, I Established Makin Moves in 2013. After attending Coastal Carolina University and working for Wyndham Resorts, I found a big need in the community. Lots of retirees were moving to the area, and a lot of my friends who were active service members or military veterans were looking for work. I knew there was an opportunity to provide value to both communities, as well as provide work and moving services to many others who needed it as well.

Makin Moves goes beyond the traditional role of a moving company by treating each customer as a member of their extended family. Vincent believes that moving isn’t just about transporting physical belongings; it’s about providing emotional support during a significant transition in someone’s life.

The Makin Moves team takes the time to listen to their customers’ stories, concerns, and desires, ensuring a personalized approach to every move. Their commitment to going the extra mile has resulted in countless positive testimonials, referrals, and lifelong relationships

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Soho For dinner one night, Crave Italian for dinner one night, flamingo grille on the north end one night, Snooki’s on the ocean whatever day has the best weather

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It is with immense joy and appreciation that I credit any success I have had to my unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, the unwavering support of my family, and the invaluable lessons from friends and mentors, and the books and material they recommend. Some of my favorite and personally most influential books to me were “48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene, “10X” by Grant Cardone, and “Your Next Five Moves” by Patrick Bet-David.

Faith in Jesus Christ has been the bedrock of my journey. Through the ups and downs, uncertainties, and triumphs, my faith has provided me with an unwavering sense of hope, strength, and purpose. It has guided me through difficult decisions, instilled in me a sense of integrity, and reminded me of the importance of serving others. By grounding myself in my faith, I have found the resilience and determination needed to overcome challenges and pursue my dreams with unwavering passion.

None of my accomplishments would have been possible without the unwavering support of my family and close friends. Their belief in me, encouragement, and willingness to stand by my side during the most challenging times has been an invaluable source of strength. Whether it was lending a helping hand (sometimes literally on the other end of the couch) during the early stages of my business or providing emotional support during moments of doubt, their love and unwavering support have been instrumental in my success. I am forever grateful for their presence in my life.

In addition to faith and family, I must acknowledge the impact of influential books that have shaped my mindset, strategies, and decision-making abilities. “48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene has taught me the importance of understanding human nature and the dynamics of power. It has provided me with valuable insights into effective leadership and negotiation, enabling me to navigate the complexities of the business world with greater wisdom.

Grant Cardone’s “10X” has been a game-changer in my pursuit of success. It has pushed me to think bigger, set audacious goals, and take massive action to achieve them. Cardone’s teachings have fueled my ambition, reminding me that success requires relentless effort, a commitment to excellence, and the courage to step outside of my comfort zone.

Finally, “Your Next Five Moves” by Patrick Bet-David has been a compass for strategic decision-making. This book has equipped me with the tools to anticipate challenges, capitalize on opportunities, and make calculated moves that propel my business forward. Bet-David’s insights have been invaluable in developing a long-term vision and executing effective strategies to achieve my goals.

As I look back on my journey, I am humbled by the tremendous support and guidance I have received from my faith, family, and the knowledge gained from influential books. Their collective impact has shaped me into the person I am today and has been instrumental in the success of my moving company and other business endeavors
