We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Bultron Donovan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The pandemic put an end to my personal training career. I instantly became a stay at home mom, teacher and lunch lady. As a personal trainer I created daily workouts for my clients, using my creativity to challenge my clients. I am a natural born multitask-er so I started to do home improvement projects in our new home. I also planted my first garden and replaced a lot of our landscaping which did not include any flowering plants originally. Soon my love for growing hibiscus, dahlias and hydrangeas turned into designing my own faux floral arrangements, using some of the same flowers I successfully grew outside. After sharing photos of my creations with family and friends, I opened my Etsy shop, Danielle’s Daily Decor.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I absolutely love creating custom pieces for my clients. I normally give them a tour of my home so that they can see how I’ve customized the arrangements throughout my home. For instance, I normally try to bring out colors from canvas art that hangs in a particular space. I point this our while I’m showing the client how and why I created each piece. Eventually, my plan is the create a flyer or brochure to attract a custom design line for every season. (spring, summer, fall, Christmas) I learned that I can only use the best quality flowers. My product has gotten more expensive to make, therefore only designing for custom clients will help prevent me from creating inventory that doesn’t move.I don’t have my custom clients pay until they are satisfied with the finished product.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First on our way out of the Carolina Forest area, we will stop for breakfast at Eggs Up Grill on River Oaks. Next, it’s time to go to my favorite place to relax, the beach. I drive to 64th street which has a little parking lot and a great wooden access ramp, which is easier for my kids to get on the beach. Pulling my beach wagon in the sand can be a bit challenging. Next stop, The Hangout which is a great lunch spot that includes kids’ play areas. After a little rest at home, we will spend the evening at The Landing at the Boathouse to enjoy dinner and some live music. The atmosphere is so cool.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother and my sisters are my biggest fans and supporters. When I get down because sales are low, they encourage me not to give up. They truly believe that I’m producing amazing arrangements and that is just a matter of time before sales sky rocket. Their confidence in me has inspired me to be even more creative with each piece I make. I can see the difference in my designs from year to year. I’m definitely getting better with every season.

Other: My dream is for my business to grow to a point that I can have a beautiful website where all of my clients can see my work, leave feedback, consult live, and purchase my designs or place custom orders. This way I will avoid the fees that associated with selling through a 3rd party.
