We had the good fortune of connecting with Kari Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kari, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is God! I firmly believe that if you seek ye first the Kingdom of God all the other things will be added to you. The success of my brand has been because of my firm beliefs in using Kingdom principles & strategies to build and elevate my business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Purposed Prosperity is a Christian based consulting agency for women entrepreneurs. Purposed Prosperity is built on 3 John 1:2-8 Above all things I wish that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. WE help women entrepreneurs go form living a life of restriction, poverty, and unfulfillment to living a limitless life of purpose, balance, and prosperity. I am most excited about the life’s that I am impacting by helping them create a beautiful legacy for their family. My journey to getting to this point in my business has not been easy by no means, growing up in poverty with disabled parents, & being the oldest of 3 made things a little more difficult for me. My plans of going to college didn’t happen the way that I wanted them to but instead of letting my situation get the best of me I began to self-educate until I was able to get into a local college. I want the world to know that no matter what situations life may throw your way you can overcome. Keep God first in all that you do, and he will direct your path.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, we would go to the spa for a nice manicure, pedicure, and massage. We would then go to the Chayz Lounge in West Columbia SC for a great meal while listening to the nice sound of jazz, have dinner at Halls Chop House. Sunday we would visit Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia to hear a great word. Travel to Rock Hill SC to get a quick photoshoot in at Glencairn Garden or The Fountain. Head to Charlotte and catch poetry night at The Outlet. Definitely visit RH Rooftop restaurant, check out South Park mall, head downtown for a night of fun. Back to Columbia to enjoy a nice walk to enjoy the scenic view at Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to my children Darius & Alivia for always being so supportive in anything I do. Giving me the space to study, helping me prepare for events, encouraging me to keep going after my dreams, reminding me to take a breather, and helping me live. laugh, love. To my mother Karen, Father Lynwood, sisters Takemia and Ashanti. Thank you all for always stepping in when you see a need in my life. Helping me with my children when I have special events, motivating me, and for being my safe space. Reverend Vivian Boyd thank you for keeping me on the right path at a critical time in my life.

Special thank you to Mt Zion AME Church in Hickory Grove SC & Beyond the Walls Ministry in Clover SC for being a light unto my path and providing great Godly counsel.
