We had the good fortune of connecting with Nelsy Silvernale and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nelsy, what do you want people to remember about you?
I think what would want my legacy to be is an example to my children of what pursuing a passion looks like. There have been bumps in the road in my journey but I’ve never let them trip me up for long. I would like people to remember my tenacity. I believe anything worth doing takes time and doesn’t happen overnight.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what sets me apart from others is that I am extremely personable. I try my best to connect with clients and really get to know them. Their likes, dislikes, and individual styles. I ask a lot of questions to get to know their aesthetic and vibe. Something that I’m proud of and excited about in my business is the support I receive from past clients by way of word of mouth. It makes my heart so full when a new client says they found me through a recommendation from a friend.
I think what has brought me to where I am today are the skills I have developed over time. I believe we never truly stop learning and I strive to remain teachable. I enjoy learning about the ever-changing makeup and bridal trends. I practice my craft at any opportunity. I wouldn’t say it’s been easy at all, but when you are working on your passion and pursuing what sets your soul on fire, oftentimes you will find yourself in a flow state that doesn’t feel like work at all. I overcame challenges along the way by taking things day by day. I try to celebrate my small wins as much as I can.
A lesson that I’ve learned along the way is that everyone you meet is in a different chapter in their journey. I learned to not compare my Chapter 1 to someone else’s Chapter 5. I learned that comparison is the thief of joy.
What I would like to share with the world about my story is that you can choose to pursue your dream job at any time, no matter how far-fetched or out of reach it may seem. Just start. “The Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was visiting my area I would have to bring them to the beach. Myrtle Beach State Park has a great beach and also has other fun things to do such as hiking trails and picnic areas. You can make a whole day of it. Next, we would visit Broadway at the beach, which in my opinion is a quintessential part of the Myrtle Beach experience. We can’t leave out market common as well. It has some great shopping and restaurants. I would bring them to Brook Geen Gardens. It’s such a beautiful and peaceful place where you can immerse yourself in the arts and nature. They have seasonal installments and exhibitions as well. Lastly, we would have to hit up the boardwalk and ride the sky wheel where the views of Grand Strand are amazing.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Some of the most influential people in my journey are Christina Weeks and Amanda Sanchez. Both of these ladies took me under their wings and showed me what women empowering women looks like.
Christina took a chance on me, hiring me as her assistant makeup artist working on wedding parties and I was able to gain the confidence and invaluable hands-on experience in the industry.
Amanda taught me so much about Skincare, product knowledge, marketing, and sales aspects of the industry. I will forever be grateful for both of their mentorships.
