We had the good fortune of connecting with Octavia Cohen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Octavia, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business helps the community by bringing awareness and information about Alopecia, the medical term for hair loss.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am proud that I am obedient to the spiritual guidance/instruction for embarking with the journey of being an advocate for Alopecia Awareness. What has been more challenging is how to continue to spread awareness pre and post pandemic; even though I could not have physical events, I was still able to share information via social media platforms.

What I want the world to know that having Alopecia is not the end of the world and it is the opportunity to be live boldly, with confidence and knowing that they are a plethora of beautiful men, women and children who are learning to embrace their journeys and are open to sharing their journeys while supporting others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend is in town for the week, I would make sure she visits during Moja Arts Festival in Charleston, SC, which is filled with a variety of events such as concerts, Reggae Block Party, poetry events and more. Each day we would attend a different event. Each year there is something different to look forward to. Because I live about an hour away from Charleston, I would invest in an Air BnB for convenience and to have a better experience. We would take plenty of pictures to capture the memories.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out Dr. Daquarta Wright and Shaniequa Washington for their constant support and love.
